Because the founder of Sikhism was influenced by both religions.

Sikhism is monotheistic like Islam.

yes Sikhs do believe in all the Hindu Gods, but they pray usually to their Guru... Nanak. (Not sure if I got the name right) but nothing connected to Islam in that religion. The similarity could only be the long beard.

Sikhism does NOT believe in Hindu gods, they old no status in our scriptures. We believe they DON'T exist. There are similarities in every religion with one another. Sikhism is its own religion.

I dint know about how it's similar to Islam but many people connect it to Hinduism because

1. The founder of Sikhism, Guru Nanak, founded the religion to protect Hindus from foreign invaders that were harassing the country by raping women and murdering innocent civilians. The religion was created almost as an armor for Hinduism. That is why the original converts to the religion were so brave and courageous and ready to die- they had a goal in mind, and that goal was peace for Hindus from these invaders.

2. they have VERY similar beliefs such as cremation. obviously there are a lot more, but I want to make a point that the guru Granth Sahib makes several references to the Vedas saying that the intellect in the Vedas is wonderful and destroys sins and so on and so forth. Clearly, Sikhism views Hinduism in a positive light.

many Hindus go to visit Sikh places of worship like the golden temple. I believe Sikhism is a sect of Hinduism, thought I know many Sikhs don't feel this way.
