. Foremost among reformers of the sixth century B.C.E. were Siddh?rtha Gautama and Vardham?na Mah?v?ra, the founders of Buddhism and Jainism respectively.Mah?v?ra considered himself the 24Th in a line of Jinas (conquerors) upon whose lives Jainism is based. This religion differs from Hinduism in that it rejects a creator, teaching that the world has always existed. It lays particular emphasis on the doctrine of ahems. The nonviolent course followed by 20Th-century Indian leader Mohandas Gandhi during his struggle for Indian independence was actually an application, in a political way, of this religious doctrine.India itself has given birth to a number of faiths?Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, etc.?but because one of these, Buddhism, came to influence profoundly the culture of virtually the whole of East Asia.? Many cultures influenced in this way ?still regard India as their spiritual homeland,?The religion got its start in the early 16Th century when Guru N?nak wanted to take the best of Hinduism and Isl?m and form a united religion.

N?nak?s mission can be stated in one sentence: ?As there is only one God, and He is our Father; therefore, we must all be brothers.? Like the Muslims, the Sikhs believe in one God and forbid the use of idols. (Psalm 115:4-9; Matthew 23:8,?9) They follow the Hindu tradition?of believing in an immortal soul, reincarnation, and Karma. The Sikh?place of worship is called a hardware.?Compare Psalm 103:12,?13; Acts 24:15.

One of Guru N?nak?s great commandments was: ?Always remember God, repeat His name.? God is spoken of as the ?True One,? but no name is given. (Psalm 83:16-18) Another commandment was ?Share what you earn with the less fortunate.? In line with this, there is a Lang, or free kitchen, in every Sikh temple, where people of all kinds may freely eat. There are even free rooms where travelers may spend the night.?James 2:14-17.

Jainism and Sikhism are both offshoot of Hinduism

They both believe OM as sacred symbol, like Hindus
They both believe in incarnation like Hindus
they both believe in karma like Hindus

Mahavir and Guru Nanak are equally respected and worshiped by Hindus

I disagree with Bholey Nath .
Sikhism is not an offshoot of Hinduism . It is a separate full fledged religion & a way of life established by Guru Nanak.
Next , Sikhs believe in Ek Onkar ( universal sound of creation ) , not OM .

Sikhism shares some common points with Hinduism like karma theory , reincarnation , meditation on God's name , etc.
Sikh Gurus ridiculed many Hindu rituals like Idol worship, Holy threads , fasting , belief if 330 million deities , belief that salvation on taking a dip in Ganges , etc.

edit **********
3rd umpire is trying to sport Hindus as a very peaceful community but perhaps he has not seen the desecration of Akal tact by Hindus
see : http://www.sikhtimes.com/blue_star_akal_takht.jpg
As steel boy said , Hindus have tried their best to harm Sikhism . We feed them in Gurdwaras and they destroy those gurdwaras .

There are two branch of religions in the world:-

The oldest one i.e.Vaidik(Sanatna Dharam(Hinduism, Jainism,Buddhism and lastly Sikhism(Sikhism have some influence of Islam also)

And another is the newest one i.e.Abraham(Jews,ChristianityTynd third one is Islam)

The main difference between them where as Vaidik branch teaches tolerance towards all form of faiths, But abrahmic(mainly Christianity and Islam) prophecies Hate towards other beliefs through there Holy books.

@Khalsa (fake sikh) id like you can never undermine my respect for sikhism.Guru Gobind singh was an ardent Bhakt of Lord Shiva.

How many times name of the Ram has come in the Guru Granth sahib, do you ever have knowledge.

Our culture is same ,like marriage and death ceremony.
It,s sikh like you who with tha backing of PORKISTAN (Steel boy is also from PORKISTAN), are givIng bad name to your fellow brothers.

Come what may i can vouch 1000 time for Hindu-Sikh unity, person like you (if you are a sikh) are always unwanted in your community.Just look out the condition of POOR KHALISTANi Simaranjeet Singh Maan.

And i,m firm on my view that all religions which are born in India(Vaidik branch) never prophecise hate towards other beliefs thorugh there books and ideology,Like quran and bible do towards infidels and non-belivers of Islam and Christianity.

Please for god sake do not give bad name to Wonderful progressive community such as Sikhs.

,"DEH SHIVA WAR MOHE SHUBH KARMAN SE KABHUN NA DARUN"

OYE GURUAN DE BANI DA MAN RAKH OYE, WARNA DUB MAR JAKE CHULLU BHAR PANI WICH.

EDIT2:Look at Porkistan shararat one more newly formed fake sikh id have come.

in 1984 my family have saved many sikhs from the clutches of riots.RSS saved many siiks in 1984 , who is RSS ??? A Hindu organisation.

It was BJP a primarily Hindu party which formed nanavati comission to probe 1984 riots.

It is Akali-BJP combine in punjab which is ruling again a Hindu-sikh unity.

You dirty porkistanis your game cannot be successful this time.

We have a sikh PM of a 85% Hindu country.

We had army general of Hindu dominated army

We have a planing comission head in the form of a sikh.

We had preidents,Home ministers, Finanace minsters, many cabinet secreteries many army soldiers in Sikh army.

Oye what right you are asking ??

How could you forget that Sikhs daughters and womens were raped by Muslims of porkistan in 1947.

Who cemented Guru Gobind sons alive in the wall??

Abey sharam karo sale KATUE Sikhon ka nam le kar us deshbhakt kaum ka naam Badnam kar rahe hai,Jisne country per koi bhi crisis ke time apni jaan ki bhi parwah nahin ki.

DOOB MAR LAKH LANATI. JA DUB MAR, AGAR TU REALITY ME HI SIKH HAI TO AAJ TERI MOTHER KO BHI APNE DOODH PER SHARAM AA RAHI HOGI..LAKH LANNATIYE DOOB MAR.,.

I am also Sikh. Please dint misguide people in the name of Sikhism.

Onkar of Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains is same

you wrote - We feed them (Hindus) in groupware

SHAME ON YOU. Who are we to feed anybody. It is Waheguru who feeds everyone

I am sure you are not a sikh, because a true Sikh will never speak such nonsense

Do not speak against hindus as all our gurus were Hindus and hindus are our brothers.

(or you a pakistani in guise of sikhs? to give bad name to sikhs?)
