No its not like that at all, rather western Sikhs have much more faith in Sikhism, they enjoy more peace of mind. At Golden Temple Amritsar hundreds of western Sikh can be seen, even they are seen singing the hymns in the temple. There may be some language problem but it can be solved. There are so many educated learned Sikhs who can guide them properly. Steel boy has also very well said that a separate temple may a requirement for a particular area.
Secondly Sikhism does not give importance to civil qualification, even an illiterate person can achieve the target of realization of God with devotion.
This Shabad is by Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Raag Aasaa on Pannaa 469
Pauree:
If an educated person is a sinner, then the illiterate holy man is not to be punished.
As are the deeds done, so is the reputation one acquires.
So do not play such a game, which will bring you to ruin at the Court of the Lord.
The accounts of the educated and the illiterate shall be judged in the world hereafter.
One who stubbornly follows his own mind shall suffer in the world hereafter. ||12||
