Default Sikhism : I sometimes doubt existence of God .. what should I do?

Sometimes , I feel doubt on God because we have not seen him , never felt him , never experienced him either , and we never can . We are keeping our blind faith in God , but at times , a question comes in my mind that What if God does not even exist ? or Does he really exist ? If we think logically , we cannot prove God .
Also , I think whether believing and praying to God is a waste of time ? and does it our alter our performance in life ? But , then I think maybe he does exist . So many saints can't be wrong and that I may not waste my human life .
thanks if anyone can help me .

hi
there are very few Sikhs who come here , so I am not sure if you will get an answer that you want
I personally dint see anything wrong with questioning ... if we dint question , we dint grow
no one can answer these questions for you either , it is something you have to do on your own

keep asking questions , study the answers .... do what feels right to you

Read the entire book of Romans in the bible. "For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed?a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,[e] just as it is written: 'The righteous will live by faith'." Romans 1:17.

Maybe go to a quiet place and seek God in prayer for a while. Tell Him your concerns and ask Him to show Himself to you. Show Him that He is important to you, and this matter is very important to you.
Sometime, it's good to see God in a different perspective. He is our Creator and here are some seminars that try to explain why people are losing their faith because they have been lied to by the deceptive view of evolution.

so many saints CAN be wrong. up until relativity recently in our history everyone believed that the earth was flat. until the second half of the 20Th century most PHYSICISTS believed in a steady state universe. majority opinion has absolutely no bearing on the facts.
you say you don't want to waste your human life, well what if you are wasting it right now? I'm not saying that's an argument against religion I'm just saying that an argument that can simultaneously be used to defend both positions isn't an argument at all.
why is it so important that you keep believing? i don't mean that as a hostile question it's more rhetorical than anything. if you stopped believing there was a god, would the universe implode? would a sunset be any less spectacular? a new born baby any less of a miracle? i would contend that they are even more special because the truth is always stranger and more interesting than fiction.

I'm a Christian, but the difference in our religions is not so great: we both encounter this same set of questions.

I find it helpful to distinguish between the reality of God and the ideas about God that inhabit my own imagination. If we assume God is real, then God must be such that my mind--any human mind--is inadequate to fully understand that reality. The God I imagine is, at best, a poor imitation of the real God. In that sense, the God I imagine does not exist.

But that doesn't mean that the real God does not exist. It just means I accept my limits. The real God (assuming that God exists) is beyond human capacity to fully understand. So much the better! That is necessary, if there be a God at all.

Certainly, we cannot prove God exists. We cannot prove God does not exist. In both case, the problem is our own limits. Logic can do nothing without premises, and premises are derived from observation, abstraction, generalization, and classification. These activities, with respect to God, are subjective. About the only proof we can manage is this: we can logically prove that logical proof is inadequate to deal with the question of God's existence.

So it seems we have a choice: believe in God, or don't believe. Pray to God, or don't pray. But it is a free choice, and it is, ultimately, the choice of who we decide we will be, because whatever the reality beyond our grasp, our beliefs will decide what we do, and our acts will determine who we are. We can believe, and we can pray, not because we are placing bets on God's existence, but because we are choosing to be people who believe and pray, people who do not consider these things a waste of our time.

Others here often ask: What if you turn out to have been wrong? I answer that I am certain I will turn out to have been, at least, a little bit wrong. My mind is too limited to encompass all truth. But being right or wrong is not our choice: we can only choose to be who we want to be, and where and with whom we want to stand.

Faith is not an absence of doubt. Faith is not being certain we have the right answers to all the questions. Faith is holding to a commitment in a relationship, and living with the idea that doubts can be sorted out later. From what (very little) I know of Sikhism, I have the impression that sort of constancy is highly valued. The founder of Christianity, Jesus of Nazareth whom we call "Christ," valued it too.

I know this is very much a foreign view to you, but I hope it might help.

I find it funny out of all people Ur asking this question.. There was a time when u told me that u was depressed and u went to hardware and took a ManamaAMAat answered the doubts in ur head and now ur saying u doubt god.. Whether u believe in god or not it doesn't bother him, if u don't believe in him doesn't mean he doesn't exsist... Waheguru Ji cannot be seen but his presence can be felt.. When we are in trouble or need guidance he sends sumone to us to help us... if u doubt Waheguru Ji then u doubt Sikhi and our Guru Ji's... I dunt know wot else to say... The rest depends on ur own soch and samaj...

I advice you to seek another religion... you can start of by prayer for another god like the christian god or the Islamic god and see if you can feel him .... when i pray to my God i always feel him and when i ask him of anything i always get it, i couldn't be more happy : ) : )

my god exists. your god may not know exists. because u are not aware who is true god. if u worship sun or moon as god then u are wrong, they are no doubt made by god. u are almost blind in night and cant see anything hence we are blind on earth to see god!!!!!!!!

Any person accepting a preconceived idea of god is the one with most insecurities and doubts. Only mindless person can have no doubt over religious matters.

The only logical way of approaching the question about the absence or existence of God is Agnosticism.

And after assessing the lives of dogmatic believers, I can say that you aren't going to waste your "human life" through disbelief.

Look Sikh Soldier Let me tell you something.

Can you see air?
No but its still there

Can you see our own hearts beating without using any technology?
No

God exists. I once doubted God existed and lost faith. But I found it again

Everyone feels this way at least one. From What I can see from your yahoo answers you are deeply intellectual and trustworthy. Read Gurbani, it will help.

But before my exam I prayed to WaheGuru and I passed with really good marks

God is everywhere. Read Guru Nanak Dev Jis Rag at the beginning of the Guru Granth and get it translated. It will Help trust me.

Read a book Sey Kynthia published by dear Rampur Hera in Hoshiarpur, often available from backhand curtain Jatha people and read the chapter Meeting with Dr. Kartar Singh. Kartar Singh was a dedicated atheist, who was converted to sikhism after discussion with baba Harnam Singh. By the way, have you seen,
Electricity, we know electricity was here before its invention, we can not feel it, nor we hear it, nor we can taste it, nor does it have a form but it does everything for us.
Air is another example.
Butter in the milk was always present, but we can get it after a process called churning.
What about gravitation, have anyone seen it.
Pain or happiness does not have a shape, or form
Radio waves can operate a radio but we can not feel them.
Keep on doing seva, you will be blessed. Ardas is best. God knows your heart, you can not cheat yourself and God.
