Default What do Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism say on the issue of evolution and the first hu

I know that Islam, Christianity and Judaism don't believe in evolution but believe in Adam and eve but what do the Dharmic religions teach about the first humans and the issue of evolution....I was told that Hinduism has an equivalent to Adam and Eve and they refer to them as "Manu and Shradha"...Does anyone know more about this?

I actually don't recall anything about this in my studies at a Buddhist temple. Let me know if you find something, messages are open.

Actually, I've read somewhere that a very large portion of Muslims think that evolution is a good explanation for human origin. Not over 50% large, but it was still a fair amount.

Most intelligent people accept evolution. However, hardcore religious peeps believe a variety of things. Most commonly...

Buddhism:
"Who shot the arrow?" - Buddha
(Don't care, doesn't matter. Worry about the present!)

Sikhism:
"Waheguru spoke once and there was creation."

Hinduism:
Brahma (under Vishnu's direction) set to work. He created grass, flowers, trees and plants of all kinds. To these he gave feeling. Next he created the animals and the insects to live on the land. He made birds to fly in the air and many fish to swim in the sea. To all these creatures, he gave the senses of touch and smell. He gave them power to see, hear and move.

Hinduism has a 12 page creation story...

i what i remember the Dalia lama said that Buddhism will adapt to any new scientific discoveries (sorry i couldn't find the actual quote), evolution even follows one the Buddha's teachings of how "everything changes, nothing stays the same".
In Hinduism as far as i know from experience, is quite vast and has a large range of responses to evolution, the scriptures say god put us down on earth, it doesn't specify with what shape we started with in there. i have also seen in India that there are some preachers with no education, thinking that we were this shape when we arrived on earth.
i don't recall anything in Sikhism about evolution.... MM might be a question i ask my friend next time...

Buddhism simply states We have been taking rebirth since beginning less time in the six realms of existence of which the Human Realm is but a small part
There is no mention that I am aware of that explains the first Humans on planet Earth as you ask
Outside of Buddhism I have heard mention other Earth like planets Even one being populated in the seventies with key personal
Buddhism is far older than what we are taught regarding the historical Buddha Shakyamuni It goes back much further than that there are countless Buddhas and it is claimed Only in the Human Realm can a Buddha be born
Clearly there is a great deal kept from us So a definitive answer is difficult to offer
If anyone does have or knows of informative material I for one would be very interest to know
A very good question

G
Don't conflate Buddhism with religions.

In Buddhism, how you live your life is the subject, not how well you obey an imaginary divinity's commands.
