What relationship does Sikhism have to Islam and Hinduism?

Actually, the Founder - Guru Nanak Dev tried to build a bridge between the Hindus and the Muslims by highlighting the fact that in both the Faiths - God is One.

Though a little known fact, Sanathana Dharma, aka Hinduism, has a monotheistic Philosophy also.

He actually studied both Religions in detail and even visited Mecca to learn more about Islam, because he was, himself originally a Hindu, and despite a lot of opposition, mainly from the Muslims, he finally gained the repute of being a Guru of the Hindus who was also a Peer [Mufti] of the Muslims.

However, the incessant persecution of the Sikhs by the Muslims, which culminated in the murder of the second last Guru and his entire family in a horrendous way, turned the last Guru to issue the declaration of the unending War between the Sikh and the Muslim and commanded that all Sikhs shall wear the 5 Ks till they have killed every last Muslim.

I don't remember the names of the second last and last Guru, but, I'm fairly confident that this is accurate because it was told to me by a Sikh.

I don't know why I'm being accused of lying, because I said what a Sikh told me when I asked him about Sikhism and why they didn't cut their hair or shave; but then, all the Sikhs I met said that my friend - Randy Singh had put it very succinctly, but was right.

This is first person who claims to be a Sikh who says something different and claims that the Sikhs would help Muslims when all of us know that a Sikh and Muslim cannot be in the same room without there being a fight.

Sikhism came out from Hinduism.
When Sikhism flourished, Muslim rulers putting lot of atrocities on Hindus, conversion to Muslims of Hindus by force, Sikh Gurus Sacrificed and fought against the atrocities of then Muslim rulers.

Guru philosophy is in Hindus only, not in Muslims.

God is omnipresent, exclusive, stays with you. This matches Thoughts and beliefs of Hinduism.

Owen is lying . Sikhs have not sworn to kill Muslims or Hindus . We have just taken oath to protect human rights and protect poor and needy . Hindus were needy at that time . So Sikh gurus helped Hindus . Had it been the case that Hindus were killing Muslims , our Gurus would have helped Muslims as well .
Sikhism is not an amalgam of Hinduism or Islam . Its just that Sikhism came after Hinduism and Islam . Sikhism accepts all beliefs and religions as a way to God . Allah and Ram both are accepted names of God in Sikh scriptures , so this is the reason Sikhism gets confused as middle path between Hinduism and Islam , but if you study carefully , Sikhism is actually a philosophy on its own and it is just a philosophy that forms bedrock of almost all religions , esp Hinduism and Islam .

Sikh soldier is right. Yes, Muslims did kill our second last Guru ( Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji) but he died protecting Hindus. After that Sikhs have been told to always protect the weak and needy. What I find disturbing is that after our Guru gave his life to protect Hinduism, Hindus lead a massacre of Sikhs in 1984 .
