"Science" and "religion" do not belong in the same sentence unless the sentence is "Religion is unscientific."

"Sikhs do not disagree with science, as it does not conflict with Sikh Scriptures or beliefs. In fact scientists are just now discovering the concepts that were written in Sikh scriptures centuries ago. Sikh Gurus told Sikhs not to smoke, do drugs or drink alcohol centuries ago. Scientists confirm that drinking alcohol, smoking and consuming drugs have harmful effects on the body."

smoking is bad....what an amazing scientific discovery, I'm appalled..

The most scientific religion is the one that does not reject science.

Yet I cannot fathom how it would be considered reasonable to believe in a god when there is no evidence for one.

Unfortunately that link doesn't look very objective. Apart from the subjectivity, Sikhism does look interesting though. Joe, I disagree, in fact the latest research in the realm of quantum mechanics is starting (just starting) to promote belief in an organizing principle, in the power of prayer, and in the existence of what the Hindus call the anarchic field. It's all quite fascinating really.

No because God and science don't go together.

Scientific religion? That's an oxymoron.

I do not agree because it is based on belief and there is no scientific base for that. "Sikhs believe in a single, Formless God, with many names, who can be known through meditation. There is only one God; His Name is Truth; He is the Creator; He is without fear; He is without hate; He is beyond time (i.e. is immortal); He is beyond birth and death; He is self-existent. Only he can be worshiped." With these in mind, one cannot really bring science into the equation, because there is direct conflict. Religion (as being practiced in modern times) use science extensively but is extremely selective on factual information. They accept gravity but defy evolution for instance.

In Sikh scripture it clearly states how the Universe formed,
It states that the universe was formed from nothing to a massive mass called 'universe' it happened in a millionth of a second, and this was said few centuries ago. NASA recently found exactly the same thing where it said that the universe was formed from a tiny particle tiny than tip of a pin and then boom the universe formed, at places it also talks of 'Parallel universes'. It also says its just not the earth or the sun that exits , it mentions that there are galaxies upon galaxies , universes upon universes. The important fact it touches is that there are 8.4 million species.

There are many more facts that were mentioned, but this should sum it up.

To a majority in US, religion mean a particular majority religion, and their religious conversations are limited to the beliefs of that religion. Sometimes its hard to agree with a thought that challenges your belief. Don't believe every word of what some followers of Sikh religion say. Don't listen to the so called western scholars either. Study the Sikh scripture yourself and find out.
