In the latter part of his life, Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, still struggled to achieve enlightenment and lamented over his own spiritual darkness:

?I have become perplexed in my search. In the darkness I find no way. Devoted to pride, I weep in sorrow. How shall deliverance be obtained??

The answer is that he did not have the answer and could not find one for the meaning of life. His teachings were an answer against Hinduism and Islam ( a mixture of the two ) He still believed in reincarnation but as you can see he did not attain deliverance from the "Circle of life".

To understand this concept , you should realize that Sri Guru Granth Sahib goes above the barrier of religion , language , caste and social backgrounds .
In Sri Guru Granth Sahib , words of different languages like Hindi , Sanskrit , Arabic , Persian , brickbat , Marathi , Punjabi are used .
Sikh Gurus has also included words like Ram ( sanskrit name for god , not ramachanra of ramayana ) , Madho , Thakur , Allah , Khuda , Maalik , Sahib , Narayan , Gosain , Prabhu , etc .
Ram comes 2000 times or more.

God is one for all religions . Its just that someone calls it Allah , someone calls him ram .
Guru Nanak says " I am slave to Allah and Ram , master of both " .
Sikhism is a very straight and direct path to god . Guru Nanak has rejected unncessary rituals .

But , Sikhs don't believe that Allah / Waheguru / Ram lives on 7th heaven . He is present everywhere according to Sikhism. Also , God does not becomes angry ( shows his wrath ) according to Sikhism .

In Guru Granth Sahib , *true* Hindu Bhakts and Muslim *true* sufi saints have found place .
In Guru Granth Sahib , saints from all backgrounds such as cobbler , weaver , butcher , has found place .
Guru Granth Sahib's guidance is for all humanity .
Guru Granth Sahib says on how a muslim can be a true muslim :

It's because the Sikhs & Muslims & Hindus & Christians & others know that in none of their so-called holy books were any scientifically composed. That's why most of them are confused! I wish if they ever thought about the HUMAN & HUMAN only, they could find the real answer. These so-called Mullah, Saints, Religious Pundits are hypocrites. I'm sure they know the truth but remain silent because most of there ill-motivated programs would be broken. They won't be invited to any so-called religious ceremony to get FREE food, clothing, money etc. Funny thing is this, a dangerous class, called, The Oppressors would bring up & nurture these fake 'Hujoors', ' Fakirs', Worshipers, Taantrik-Baba etc! The more these fake 'Guru' would stay, the more it would be possible for the oppressors to brainwash poor; because poor are usually soft-nature & are afraid of so-called unworldly magics!

Asker, You are right !
Sikhism borrowed the world Allah from Islam as Islam borrowed it from the name of Pagan Moon God.
But under this wrapper, there is the philosophy of Adwaita and Sakara Bhakti of Hinduism where it is told to see God everywhere. On the other hand, Islam doesn't believe in the concept of "Omnipresence." For a Muslims, Allah is an unseen and ambiguous mafia who is operating all this racket from Jannat.

Sikh Soldier is also lying.

Sikhism believes in the incarnation system and thousands of verses can be found in Guru Granth Sahib and Dasham Granth.
Therefore Ramchandra mentioned in the Ramayana is the Ram of Sikhism. Same story is with Narayana, Krishna etc.

Ramayana is praised many times in GGS.

Guru Govind Singh was a Sakara Bhaka who wrote many verses in praise of the flute of Krishna. So don't be misguided by these self-baked theories.

How can somebody believe that Rama of Sikha is different from the Rama of Hindus..........lol?

The Arabic words like Allah and Khuda have also come in the GGS because these are the common words used in Punjabi. Moreover people like Kabeer and Raheem was Muslims and later turned Hindus but they used the word "Allah" for Krishna.........and the same verses were added in GGS. That is why this confusion came into existence. Otherwise Sikhism has nothing to do with Islam.

Swastik has given a perfect and all-encompassing definition. He looks Hindu but seems incredibly insightful in Sikhism too.
