Sikhism contains the teachings mostly from Hinduism. At time of Nanak, there were not many genuine social reformers/leaders were there in society thus many Muslims also followed him.
it was started to protect the Hindus from the cruel mu-gals. but after that period it has taken its direction differently, now as we can all see it as full religion with roots/principles taken from Hindu/muslim religion.
It has been answered earlier also,that Sikhs are brothers of Hindus.Very much truth that many of them scarified their lives,to save the Hindus from murals.
Don't insult them by calling hybrid.It's a branch of Hindu religion only.
No, it is an independent religion and is truth based. Guru Nanak received divine revelations and he preached his mission in many countries.

We are children of one Parent, from time to time blessed ones spread his message to masses. If you read Guru Grant carefully you will get answer, do not waste your energy on getting view points.
