Sacrificing any thing to please God is forbidden in Sikhism. These Nihangs are probably the cannabis edicts.
Edit:
The second Shabad referred by Brother Jagjit Singh tells us story otherwise, it does not condemn killing or meat. Here Guru Sahib quoted Hindu books(Puranas) to the Brahman who hated meat.

Nanak what can be said to the blind man? He can reply not and nor understands he what is said to him. {{{Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Raag Malaar 1289}}}
The following shabad is related with sacrificing animals on the name of religion, it is also not regarding eating meat. The above shabad tells us the general state of Brahmans that time, who hated meat that time( those who were eating it, were doing secretly,even today brahmans do not eat meat), so the following shabad is not related with meat eating and if someone quotes it, when he tries to tell meat eating is forbidden in Sikhism, he is not using the shabad in right context. All of us are agree sacrificing animals to please God/gods is forbidden in Sikhism.

In Bachitara Natak, there is mention of Killing of bears, pigs, Rhoses by Guru Gobind Singh(Many do not believe in Bachitra Natak as writing of Guru Gobind Singh but they can not deny Bachitra Natak as historic document).
Hari Singh Nalwa can not be Nalwa without killing of a Lion. He frequently used to go to hunting.
When Bhai Subegh Singh and Shahbaz Singh approached Khalsa in the forests, as per Ratan Singh Bhangu(He was grand son of shaheed brother mehtab singh who sent massa ranghar to hell)," Manh Prsaad(meat) was being cooked".
