Default I'm considering converting to Sikhism. Should I?

I feel as if it is only sensible religion and I feel as If I have been following the Sikh lifestyle throughout my life.

I don't like cutting my hair, I don't eat meat nor do I drink alcohol or smoke tobacco.

(I'm currently a Catholic)

Sure. You can be both Sikh and any religion actually. Unlike many other religions, it's not exclusive. So I guess there really isn't a reason not to.

While you are extremely wise to convert away from Catholicism, do not go into another false religion.

Read the Holy Bible. Catholicism is not Christianity - so do not take Catholicism to "represent" Christianity.

Pick up a Bible - you can only reach God through Jesus Christ. Not Sikhism, and by the way, not Mary or any of the "saints".

I recommend the King James Version.

Dear Mark,
I understand where you're coming from completely. I was raised Christian, and for a long time felt without a religion until my recent conversion to Islam. All I can say is, religion is not to be taken lightly, as I'm sure you know. Research Sikhism (I have no idea what that is, Lil) and be careful about asking for other people's opinion because they may try to sway you based on their beliefs. In my opinion, my choice of religion is right, however, it is right for ME, not anybody else, and that's what you need to do. Don't let other people's opinions influence on what's right for you and your soul. You (should) know you best. And when you make your decision stay firm, and be happy. Best of luck to you!!

You should really think about dropping religion altogether...Stop wasting your time with deciding which false story to believe and which non-existent deity to worship. Open your eyes and join the real world.

I think you are converting because you are .............

1 - Emotionally low or
2 - Financially down or
3 - Intellectually challenged or
4 - Socially inferior or
5 - Physically weak
6 - Temperamentally fickle

When i say temperamentally fickle i mean that most white trash ( you may not be one ) mature early and finish their trip of drugs, sex , rock n roll, much before their contemporaries elsewhere. Then they search for a new trip - " Cool ? I want that fancy hat ! " Im sure a year after Sikhsim you will want a new trip and may probably go bungee jumping down the California bridge.

You probably will hurt your parents by doing some act of no value. ( Sikhism gives importance to respecting their elders ) Conversion is jumping from one belief system into another. Sikhism believes all religions go to the same God.

Assuming you are sensible, then you can follow good points of Sikhism instead of blindly converting
Read this site http://www.beliefnet.com/Faiths/Sikhism/?
AND WNW.sikhnet.com

I dint follow the rules of my religion, but if you are hell bent on converting make sure you dint make the mistake that i do and most other Sikhs do .
