No I haven't. If it has a supernatural creator as its main premise then I will not believe it whatever your holy books say. There is zero evidence for any supernatural creator so the books written by men on the subject are of no use in understanding this world.

Very superficial things, I'm afraid. I know that Sikh men wear turbans and beards, and that many of them have the name Singh. I don't know why those things are true.

I also know that Indira Gandhi's assassination was over some anger having to do with a Sikh temple, and that there's a Sikh separatist movement in India. But I know as little about the politics as I do about the religion.

Please feel free to educate us.

Yep.

Another variant of old superstitions turned into social/group "rules," and assuming the existence of supernatural entities for which there is no evidence of any kind. And with a large number of "rules" being nothing but social traditions from a particular region of the world, and not being at all useful in the modern world at large.

Hey, it it makes you happy, enjoy it. Just don't expect rational people to be at all interested, OK?

Peace.

Not really. I have met Sikhs in my travels to India and I know that Sikhism was founded by Guru Nanak in an effort to close the divide between Islam and Hinduism by creating a religion that combines elements of both. I also know that Sikhs grow out their hair and beards, and they wear a bracelet that serves as a weapon of self-defense. That's about it.

I've learned enough about religions to objectively state that I have no need for one.

It is a monotheistic religion where the gurus have a sort of prophet status. It comes from and is most prevalent in Punjab and that it often emphasizes meditation. It is a reincarnations religion. Sikhism is sort of a marriage of Hinduism and western religion, which ends up saddling it with most of the good old logical problems of western theology and does not settle the whole "zero evidence" issue for eastern theology either.
