Thank you for asking me about my religion.

Before i began to answer your question, i would like to state two important things:
1. As Muslims we cannot lie about anything, especially about our religion.
2. We have original recorded sources of our religion:

A) The Quran
http://www.quranexplorer.com

B) Teachings of Muhammad - the Authentic saying or Sunnah
http://www.quranexplorer.com/hadith/english/index.html

This is a unique part of Islam, not available in any other ancient religions.

Muslims submit and surrender their will and desires to the will and the laws of the Creator. By referring to, "The Creator", Muslims are talking about "Allah."
"Allah" simply means "The God" in Arabic.
The term Allah is derived from a contraction of the Arabic definite article AL- "the" and 'Ila "deity, god" to AL-lah meaning "the [sole] deity, God" (ho Theo's moons). Cognates of the name "Allah" exist in other Semitic languages, including Hebrew and Aramaic. Biblical Hebrew mostly uses the plural form (but functional singular) Elohim. The corresponding Aramaic form is 'Elaha in Biblical Aramaic and 'Al?h? in Syriac.
The contraction of AL- and 'Ila in forming the term Allah ("the god", masculine form) parallels the contraction of al- and 'ilaha in forming the term Allat ("the goddess", feminine form).
The Hebrews called Him, 'ELAH'.
Jesus, in Aramaic called Him, 'AALAH'
The Arabs call Him, 'ALLAH'.
The Sikhs call Him 'ALLAH'.
The Hindu Scripture say He is Allah'.
Sumerians call Him, ILA'.Koreans call Him' OLLA'.
In Accadian He is called, 'ALLU'
In Syriac, HE is, 'HILA'.
In Phoenician ,ALON'
Haitian, 'LOA'.
Finnish, LUOYA'
Even the Japs call Him, 'ARRA' , (They usually pronounce 'L' as 'R'.)
(Note the presense of the letter 'A' and 'L'. The variations were just due to Tribal Linguistic accent.)
And that is almost all the people on Earth.

Islam is a verb and a noun at the same time.
The first meaning of "Islam" is the verb from the root "aslama" (a verb), meaning to: "surrender; submit; obey; sincerity and in peace."
The second meaning of "Islam" is the noun form from the same root, and it describes the last and final form of the way of life as perscribed by the Creator for His Creation. This is the name used in Quran for Muslims to call themselves as followers of "Islam". This would make them "Islam-ers" in English, but of course in Arabic the prefix "mu" is added to denote the one preforming the action or verb and instead it becomes "mu"-"islam" or "Muslim."
"Islam" can be understood in a very general sense to be the true religion of God, as it is from Him and according to His commandments without adding to or taking away from the basic precepts.

The most of the answers on this question are answered by Hindus who openly supported genocidal attack on Darbar sahib and genocide of Sikhs in 1984 and another one from 1984-1996. They are admirer of Indira and Rajiv, the Sikh killers. Many of them might not admire them but they hate Muslims.
Sikhism and Islam are close. I do not read Zakir Husain, for me he is an idiot. He does not know anything about Islam or Sikhism.
Both believe in One God. There is only God, none other can be equated with God.
Both believe in charity(Muslims call it Khidmat, Sikhs call it Deva)
Both religions believe in defending their rights,
Both religions reject caste ism,
Original Islam rejects priest class too. Sikhs are deadly against priests.
Sikhs and Muslims both reject superstitions like fortune telling, worshiping of graves, idol worship etc.
Baba Farid and sai Bheekhan Shah's versions are present in Sikh scriptures and Sikhs give them same respect as they give to their Gurus but because they were sufi, many muslims decalre them nonIslamic.
There are many dissimilarities too, but here I am only discussing similarities. If I go to minor details, there are many more but that will also bring cultural similarities in it.

I am Sikh and I know that the people the Sikh people are enemies with the Islam religion. The Islamic people killed our 10Th guru's, Guru Gobind Singh Ji's, two, they told them that if they don't convert to the Islamic religion they will bury them alive but they stood up for their religion and the Islamic people killed them.
Similarities:
1. have their head covered in temples.
2. wear similar clothing.
3. pray at least once a day
4. Have a holy book, for Sikhs, we have the Guru Granth Sahib and Islamic people have the Quran
5. Men have turbans and beards
6. Believe that threes only one true God
*hope that helps*
