Sufism Sufism is a mystical-ascetic approach to Islam that seeks to find divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience of God. By focusing on the more spiritual aspects of religion, Sufis strive to obtain direct experience of God by making use of "intuitive and emotional faculties" that one must be trained to use.

Default Universal Sufism ~ What do you know/think? Christian opinion?

I am very interested in a branch, I suppose you can call it that, of Islam known as Universal Sufism.
The philosophy of Universal Sufism is based on unity of all people and religions, and the presence of spiritual guidance in all people, places and things.

This is copied from the Viki page which you can read here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Sufism
if you care to.

Is anyone a Universal Sufist who can recommend me some good reading material.?
I want to know more about it.

Based on the short definition of Universal Sufism I gave up top, Christians, are you offended by this religion the way Islam offends you? If you're not offended by Islam, then ignore this, but based on another recent question about the religion, it seems Muslims and Islam is generally disliked here.

Muhammad is a prophet in Universal Sufism the same way Jesus and the Buddha are.

What are your opinions on this type of religion?
I'm interested in knowing all people's opinions, but especially Christians because I have many Christian friend's and a Christian family though I call myself an agnostic for the time being.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me"

I read Sufi poetry because I love the love of God that is represented, but I am not a Muslim. The Catholic Church, and other Christian branches have long had dialogEUith this community. I don't believe that Jesus was just a prophet and I think Mohammad was a reactionary against Christianity, so I wouldn't embrace this as my own religion, but I have no problem with it. You should try reading Rumi and Hafez if you haven't yet. They have wonderful love poems to God.

Mohammed is not the prophet of anything except Allah.

Be very careful, this type of religion would be classed as a dangerous cult in the U.S.

It is completely against the true Islam. Their is no such thing as sects in Islam (they are all made up by heretics).

True Islam is one that follows the Quran and the way's and habits of Prophet Mohammed. This way is called the (Sunnah).

This is the way of the majority of Muslims.

Don't make that crucial mistake.

Please go here if you want to study Islam.
