Sufism Sufism is a mystical-ascetic approach to Islam that seeks to find divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience of God. By focusing on the more spiritual aspects of religion, Sufis strive to obtain direct experience of God by making use of "intuitive and emotional faculties" that one must be trained to use.

anything by Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri. He is a Sufi shaikh originally from Iraq now living in South Africa. His books are available on amazon. His group has a website Nadeen.com

Best people I ever met. If you live in the UK I can introduce you to Sufis who do Dhaka circles.

The best way to learn about Sufism is through a sheik or Pir O mushed. Personally I would say it is the only way because love is the key element and one would have to experience the love of a Sheik. Pray secretly, late at night and sincerely ask Allah for guidance and help and He would guide you to His chosen people. Although it is the most simplest and purest way it is difficult to understand because it is a matter of the heart. At first everything seems upside down but in the end you would know who you are, where you came from and where you are going - with certainty.

Some books you could read are "The big five of India" by w.d.Begg
Futuh Al- Ghaib by Haz. Sheik Muhyddin Abdul Quaqdir Gilani (RA)
Mureed Nama-e-Saeed
The Mathnavi by Ru-mi (RA)
Tranquility of the Hearts

Adab AL-Suluk: A Treatise on Spiritual Wayfaring by Shaykh Najm AL-Din Kubra
Shaykh Najm AL?Din Kubra is one of the leading shaikhs of the Sufi path (Tariqah). His name is Ahmad, his title is "al?Tammat al?-Kubra" and his birthplace was Khwarazm. His fruitful life lasted nearly seventy?eight years. It is said that he died in 618/1221.
The present tract is the translation of one of the Shaykh's treatises in Arabic entitled Adab al?suluk ila Hadrat Malik al?Muluk, which consists of two sections. One is a spiritual journey towards God (Haqq) through removal of the veils of negligence and the veils of distance and darkness. The other is a physical journey in the vast earth of God. Out of these two journeys, this work contains the translation of the one related to esoteric wayfaring.

The best books on Soofism that I've come across are:

Talbees Iblees (the devils deception) by Imaam Ibnul Jawzee.

He says in it:

S's?????? S's ????? ?? ???? ????????? ????? ??????? ?????? ???? ????? ???? ?????? ?? ?????? ??? ??????? ?? ??????? ??? ????? ???? ?????? ??? ???? ????? ?? ?????? ??????

((Tasawwuf (Soofism) is a way whose beginning was complete avoidance of the affairs of worldly life (Zuhd), then those who attached themselves to it became lax in allowing singing and dancing. Therefore, the seekers of the Hereafter from the common people became attracted to them due to the avoidance of the worldly life which they manifested, and the seekers after this world were also attracted to them due to the life of ease and frivolity which they were seen to live))

And he also says:

??????? ???? ????? ???? ??? ????? ???? ??? ????? ?????? ?? ????? ?? ???? ??? ??? ???? ?????? ??? ?? ????? ????

((Tasawwuf (Soofism) is a way that is well known for exceeding in abstinence of worldly luxuries (zuhd). What shows the difference between them is that no one ever condemned abstinence (zuhd), whereas Soofism was condemned because of what we will mention later.))

And he says:

?? ??? ??? ???????? ?????? ????? ???? ???? ?????
((No one accompanies the Soofiyyeen for forty days and has his brain return with him ever))
