Sufism Sufism is a mystical-ascetic approach to Islam that seeks to find divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience of God. By focusing on the more spiritual aspects of religion, Sufis strive to obtain direct experience of God by making use of "intuitive and emotional faculties" that one must be trained to use.

Default Islamic Extremism! Is Sufism or Ahmaddiya sect the answer for islam?

Im not a Muslim. However Ive spoken to Muslims from the two sects mentioned. They seem to (from what they told me) abhor violence of any kind, totally disagreeing with terrorism, suicide bombing, stoning women, persecution or looking down on non Muslims, refusing to mix in when in western countries etc.

Perhaps those mainstream Sunni and Shia Muslims who seem affected by radicalism and extremism should switch to these sects?

I criticize Islam all the time (as a middle eastern Assyrian christian), so its nice to know not all Muslim groups are full of hate and prejudice.

Hello, first i would like to mention that there are no sects in Islam we are all one, with the same believes and ideas.
U should know that Sufism is simply a way of living. They are Muslims that has chosen to live that way.
So anyone who tries to divide us or take a group and make a sect of his own, I think isn't Muslim.
Our Islam totally disagree with violence and terrorism, so if the shoat and Sunni in Iraq act so violently, it's they're own problem, they are acting against what we believe.

The answer for Islam is THE QURAN

who told you that other Muslims don't ''totally disagreeing with terrorism, suicide bombing, stoning women, persecution or looking down on non Muslims, refusing to mix in when in western countries etc.''

''so its nice to know not all Muslim groups are full of hate and prejudice'' --- wow, maybe you souled switch to Sufism too.

Why are ''Shiites'' and ''Sunnis'' able to live together peacefully everywhere in the World EXCEPT where the United States Army has gone ?

You are not only wrong but misguided. American (Christian) action in Iraq has led to the deaths of around 1.2 million people and there is news of an attack on Iran too.

The other Christian action is in Somalia, Sudan,Colombia, and many more.

If you think this is all peaceful and harmonic stuff you may reflect that these Christians are over there and not acting over here (Thank God).
If I wanted to complain about religious extremism I would start right here.

Sufis capture the good side of Islam pretty much perfectly. Unfortunately all we ever hear about are the Wahhabis and other extremists. Sufis are pretty universality, whereas Wahhabis believe anyone who doesn't agree with them is going to hell. A good Sufi would see no distinction between people. Of course, they are not perfect either, but they are generally more peace loving.

In Islam there are no sects. However, I would fall under Sufi Sunni if I had to =]]

I find the light of Islam in just a hint of Sufism. Sufis believe in meditating on Allah's signs and constantly remembering Him. We invite all to the our caravan for it is not a car van of despair ;-)

Rumi, one of the great es poets of all times was a Sufi! AWESOME poetry that I appreciate greatly as a Muslim poet myself.

Peace.
