Sufism Sufism is a mystical-ascetic approach to Islam that seeks to find divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience of God. By focusing on the more spiritual aspects of religion, Sufis strive to obtain direct experience of God by making use of "intuitive and emotional faculties" that one must be trained to use.

The Christian equivalent is Sufism which is a most pure form of Islam is the Christian mystic who believes that it may be possibly to have a direct experience of Gof other than by mere faith and practise of prayer and worship etc.

Sufism actually Prue-dates Islam, but the equivalent in Christianity, would be some of the non-denominational Gnostic sects, or maybe the Essenes, who still exist.

Gnosticism is a general answer like "mystics." Gnostics and Mystics describe a process, it is not a movement. Sufism is the mystical or gnostic movement of Islam. The question is: Sufism is to Islam as X is to Christianity.

X has many answers. Quietism is one example.
