Sufism Sufism is a mystical-ascetic approach to Islam that seeks to find divine love and knowledge through direct personal experience of God. By focusing on the more spiritual aspects of religion, Sufis strive to obtain direct experience of God by making use of "intuitive and emotional faculties" that one must be trained to use.

Default What is Sufism and what do Muslim think of Sufism?

Like Kabbalah; Sufism is very interesting to me. I feel like I can be on fire for G-d and also respect my fellow person.

It's a sort of cult where they take some parts of faith and draw pleasures from it. Soft of like Kabbalah is to Judaism.

I think both are frowned upon.

Sufism is a sect amongst the Muslims and it is part of the cancer that is called tackled that is amongst the Muslims. It might be interesting to you, but I would advise any Muslim to stay away from such things as Sufism and other sects amongst the Muslims.

In general Muslims have various views about Sufism. Sufis think it is a great thing, while Salafis and other sects amongst the Muslims despise it. Some Muslims might even be unaware and ignorant of it.

BEAUTIFUL QUESTION BRO!!!
Sufism is actually a better version of Islam..Its not Islam though people think it is..
Its basic ideas were gathered from Islam, but its nothing like it..Sufism is beautiful, loving,peaceful,wise,constructive,emotional,non-violent..
Sufism depends highly upon poetry,Music, literature to promote its ideology..Although people/Muslims consider Sufism to be Islam, its something quite different..Islam clearly forbids Music, poetry and art..
While most Sufis like Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, Abba Fareed Shakar Ganj e.t.c were very great poets..
Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai was even a musician..He even created a musical instrument called the 'Ik Tara'(meaning one string). He also corrected many musical notes of his time too..
In short,Sufism is the result of Muslim religious roots encounter with south Asian culture..
It endorses Abrahamic religions, but its also something different too..Their poetry is magnificent..
And many Muslims even hate the sufis..Like deo bandis..

Sufism is Islamic Mysticism.

Just as Kabbalah is Jewish Mysticism.

I am Eastern Orthodox (a Christian Mystic.)
