Sunni follow hadith by friends of Muhammad. Shias follow hadith from his family. Whic
SunniSunni Muslims are the largest group in Islam, comprising the vast bulk (80-90%) of the world's 1.5 billion Muslims, hence the title Ahl as-Sunnah wa’l-Jamā‘ah (people of the tradition and union)
I don't follow his family for the sake of following his relatives, rather, because they consist of our imams the 12 imams and Lady Fatima.
It is for the who they are and their status in the eyes of Allah(SW) not for their blood relation to the prophet. Thus, we don't follow others who associate themselves with Elul Bat.. cousins..etc
Allah sent us a prophet, after which, 12 imams and a Qumran to follow until judgment day.
@Aabout those who didn't betray and stood firm with ahlul bayt and faught for them.. those who were honest in their belief, the true shi'as?? forget the traitor shi'as, they are khawarij... The question remains, what about the real shi'as who never betrayed their imams and faught alongside them?? those few who were killed with Hussien(as) aren't they real shi'as?? why don't you join their side not the opposite?? Join the side of ALi(as) and not those who went against him?? join the side of Hassan(as) not those who were against him?? Hussien(as)?? Who do you stand on the otherside of the river and shout you guys have traitors on your side, when, nevertheless, that side is as you define it, the right side??
Let's see what a Muslim convert has to say:

@ A????
'How about those who didn't betray and stood firm with Elul Bat and fought for them."
Umm .... this group never existed, the last group who claimed eternal loyalty was the traitors "Shina" of Kufa
The ones who stood firm were the Sunni Muslim brothers of Alhussein (ra) THEY HAD THE NAMES ABU BAKR AND OMAR YOU IGNORANT!"
Here, you speak Arabic, "dive" in the oceans of your religion's lies and contradictions:

the Muslims(sunnis) follow the prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him)
and Sunni Muslims have more Eadith's than Shina of the prophet (peace be upon him) which are narrated by his family
"It was seven hundred fence posts from our place to yours
Neither one of us was old enough to drive a car
Sometimes it was raining, sometimes it would shine
We wore out the gravel road between your house and mine
I'd start walking your way
You'd start walking mine
We'd meet in the middle 'neath that old Georgia pine
We'd gain a lot of ground
'Cause we'd both give a little
And there ain't no road to long
When you meet in the middle"
It was the same group that you say put their unquestioning loyalty and trust in the Ahl Al-Bayt as if they were 'your own family' deserted Husayn on the battlefield.
It was the same group that you say put their unquestioning loyalty and trust in the Ahl Al-Bayt as if they were 'your own family' deserted the grandson of Husayn, Zayd bin Ali on the battlefield.
Yes and Muslims follow the QUran.
Friends and family have nothing to do with Islam, It is the messenger and his message.
What makes no sense is following a bunch of sayings by people who never met the messenger and have these sayings replace the Quran.
The Quran condemns all sects. All sects in Islam, whether Sunni, Shias, Ahmaddis,
Ismailli......etc have disagreements about Eadith and sun nah attributed to the prophet. However, these same sects have no disagreements about the Quran.
It is sources of religious law, stories, conjecture, etc. outside the Quran which have
about the last sermon of the prophet. The different versions/conjecture gave rise to sects.
Nation of Islam, a large political group for African American, although have achieved a great political gain for the African Americans in the USA, they produced their own sources other than the Quran and follow other sources besides the Quran for religious laws. This is completely condemned in the TRUE Islam. Many of the followers of the Nation of Islam however are more acceptable to the TRUE Islam (Submission) when they get exposed to it as most of them are well educated and intelligent. Like all the other
sects as soon as the followers of the Nation of Islam decide to follow ONLY the word of God in the Quran for religious law and leave the words of man for political moves ,they will find the truth and be guided. .See our section about Hadith and Quran .
These sects of Islam ( Sunni, Shias, Ahmaddis, NOI....etc.) do exactly the same thing - they follow sources and religious scholars, instead of the Quran.
[6:159] Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with
you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform
them of everything they had done.
[30:32] (Do not fall in idol worship,) like those who divide
their religion into sects; each party rejoicing with what
they have.
[42:14] Ironically, they broke up into sects only after the
knowledge had come to them, due to jealousy and
resentment among themselves. If it were not for a
predetermined decision from your Lord to respite them for
a definite interim, they would have been judged
immediately. Indeed, the later generations who inherited
the scripture are full of doubts.
We Shia follow the Ahlul Bayt (a) because not only was the Prophet (saw) the most closest to them and loved them above all people, but because the Prophet (saw) had himself told us to follow them. By following Ahlul Bayt (a), we are following the Prophet (saw) because that is who he told us to follow, ultimately. The Ahlul Bayt (a) were the best, most noble, most virtuous of Muslims after the Prophet (saw) and had followed the Prophet (saw) the best.
Narrated in Sahih Muslim:
The messenger of Allah said: "I am leaving for you two precious and weighty Symbols that if you adhere to BOTH of them you shall not go astray after me. They are, the Book of Allah, and my progeny, that is my Ahlul-Bayt. The Merciful has informed me that These two shall not separate from each other till they come to me by the Pool (of Paradise)."
