Default How can I incorporate Taoism in my life more?

I've been reading the Tao DE Ching for about 2 years now, and I learn something new every time I read it. I've recently decided that since I am an atheist but need some sort of 'spirituality' (if I may call it that...) I think I would like to make Taoism my practice. I'm already an avid zen enthusiast, but I was wondering what are other ways I can incorporate Taoism in my life? What does a Taoist do? I'm trying to learn as much about the subject as I can, but most of the things I am reading have to do with the history, and not with how a Taoist lives. Thanks!

Tao should have taught you the universe is alive, that matter and energy intertwine to create everything. Everything is at sex Yin Yang.

You already do.

Taoism is wisdom for life, no God is necessary.

I was at first a Taoist proper and now I consider myself a Philosophical Taoist.

Look at the Dao De Jing and you'll find that much of what it says is true and good advice.

"A newborn is soft and tender,
A crone, hard and stiff.
Plants and animals, in life, are supple and succulent;
In death, withered and dry.
So softness and tenderness are attributes of life,
And hardness and stiffness, attributes of death.

Just as a sapless tree will split and decay
So an inflexible force will meet defeat;
The hard and mighty lie beneath the ground
While the tender and weak dance on the breeze above. "

Think about how this applies to life-

A stern and inflexible person isn't strong and they're certainly not happy are they? Regimentation of life is no way to find joy, wouldn't you agree?

I have studied Taoism for most of the past 8 years now and have applied it to many aspects of my life with great success. If you have any questions about this or other Taoists texts, feel free to add me, e-mail me or IM me anytime.

Peace and happiness,
Travis Anderson

TAOISM - A system of religion and philosophy based on the teachings of Lao-Te 6Th century Chinese philosopher advocating a simple and honest life and non interference with the course of natural events.

Like most religions that is not a clear guide as to what to do!!

For example does that mean letting dogs and cats fight? or do you break it up?

Do you put the tragedy in Haiti down to a natural event and stay away from it? Or do you seek to help?!!

Do you use a computer seeing as all sorts of unnatural events are required to make the electricity, the computer, transport it to you and in the construction and building of the house or apartment you use it in!!
