Default Taoism, my new way of life?

Okay, so I've decided to take up Taoism. I've been reading a bunch of books, and I love the philosophy of it. I'm just very confused.

I live my life by flow, as in I don't fight against things that aren't meant to happen. But I'd love to fully live my life as a Taoist. My family probably won't approve, but Oh well.

So what else can I do to further my education in Taoism?

So far I have read the Tao of Pooh, and am reading Tales from the Tao by Solala Towler. Next I plan to read the Wisdom of Laotse, or The Te of Piglet.

Lk I said, I love it, it's the major reason I get up in the morning, and live my unsatisfying life.

Also, where can I learn how to correctly meditate, etc?

Please help, I can't learn much from books.

Yes, absolutely correct, you can't learn much from books... ^_^...

Meditating is not complicated, in fact it's best if you don't worry about the technique and just DO it. If you've read the Tao Te Ching, then you'll have read how Lao Tzu often said that stillness was a virtue, and how when people cease desires they will be calm and content. That's what meditation is for - it helps still the mind, so that you can be like Tao.

Just count your breaths. Sit comfortably, but not so comfortably that you fall asleep. Just breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, and breathe out, counting exhalations. Inhale, one....... inhale, two.......... inhale, three... once you reach ten, start over at one. If you lose count, which you certainly will (trust me ^_^), just go right back to one.

You'll find it's very difficult ^_^. Thoughts tend to jump in and distract you. It can take months, years before one becomes proficient at it. The key is simply not to worry about practice. Just keep coming back to it, just keep at it, don't think about how well you are doing or not doing. If you feel your meditation went well, don't compliment yourself. If you feel it went miserably, just go on as if nothing occurred.

You might want to look into Zen as well, Taoism and Zen have a lot in common.

I really embrace the Tao-zen reversal of the golden rule which says: Do NOT unto others that which you would NOT have done to you.
I cannot accept the loss of identity form the individual expressed in the flow of rivers . That being that the tiny rivulet in joining the stream which joins the river which flows into the sea enhances the tiny rivulet by being part of a large more important mass.
It is exemplified in the success in battle of oriental armies which become a wave of military power because the soldier is part of the squad , is part of the regiment , is part of the battalion, is part of the army. The individual thus has no fear.

learn to meditate here http://www.freemeditation.ca/

and read the Tao Te Ching. It is the basis for Taoism and contains all the knowledge that all the other Taoist books talk about.

Taoism as an organized religion may not be how you imagine it though, it is not really interested in following the Tao Te Ching in the same way that the Catholic Church really isn't very interested in Jesus Christ. There is a lot of ritual and beliefs that are pretty much unrelated to the ideas of Lao Te, but anyway- it's up to you, I just think it's better to keep it simple and just do it yourself.
