Default What are the differences between Taoism and Buddhism?

I know they are both philosophies of China, not necessarily religions....
I'm doing a research paper on IQ in Deng Hui. Do both philosophies contain the concept of IQ? Which is more believed in? Are they compatible? like one can be both?

Thanks... sorry for so many questions.

Buddhism originated from India, not China.

There are different forms of both religions - theistic and non-theistic.

In my country, Singapore, Taoists and Buddhists mainly practice theistic Taoism and Buddhism.

They pray to the gods of Chinese folklore in theistic Taoism.

For Buddhists in Singapore, most pray to Buddha like a deity, offering him food and praying to him for things.

However, Singaporean Buddhists and Taoists too practice non-theistic Buddhism and Taoism, but very rare.

i think IQ is only contained in Taoism, and divided into yin and yang. while Buddhists think the world is made of water, wind , fire and earth. and they are not compatible to each other, for Taoism and Buddhism and Confucius are all already melt into one religion, i call it shanghaisSmr sinaism. u can be both, no prob at all.

Buddhism originated in India and traveled to China. It is the belief that man is on a perpetual quest to achieve spiritual perfection. The original model for Buddhism is Buddha who was the son of a royal family and became enlightened to the idea of spiritual perfection. Concepts of the religion include the idea that the soul is reincarnated over and over so that it can advance towards perfection. As the soul moves up it will return into simpler lifeforms such as cows or trees.
Taoism is a religion (sort of) that is based on the writings of Lao Tsu. He was a follower of Confucius and a keeper or librarian of his works. At a late age, the story goes, La Tsu decided to leave China in retirement. On the way out across the Great Wall one of the guards implored him to leave a book of his wisdom behind. Lao Tsu complied and wrote a short book called the Tao Te Ching. This book became the basis of modern Taoism. One of the early disciples of Taoism, named Chwang Tsu followed on with writings of his own that further explained the original work. Taoism is a pretty esoteric belief that centers on the belief that there is an energy that flows through all things in the universe and that the individual must strive to understand and become one, or at peace with these natural forces.

In any religions, there are different level of understanding of the teachings by different people due to the differences in their ability.

Thus, in ancient times, you have layman who cannot read or write but will pray to any deities, gods/God for protection, health, fortune, all sort of human desires, etc.

In ancient times, it is difficult for one to encounter the sacred texts, but there are true master who have learned from these sacred texts.

But, in modern times, it is easy for one to encounter the sacred texts, but there are few true master who have learned from the sacred text.

There are Qi or energy permeating this universe, and beyond this universe.
