How do you practice Taoism or be a Daoist/Taoist when its just philosophical?
I ALMOST got the understanding of what the 'Tao' is, and I was watching a video of a lady who a Taoist in the united states... now how can one be a Taoist if it not really a religions? How do you practice? Are the rituals just a type of Buddhist meditation, mixed in with Hindu thoughts, and some divination occultism rituals.
What would make a Taoist a religion? or it just like Confucius a moral of ethics, but Taoism just mixed in 'going back to nature' and the 'Tao'.
there's no rituals, it's not a religion
it's just the way you act and live, the way you see the world and react to everything around you
other than that, any rituals or meditations or what so ever, are not really a part of it
it's not a religion, it's just a philosophy of how to live, and how to explain life
sounds like a wonderful way to live. Just always do whatever you feel is best.
And not have to live with traditions made up in the ancient past that say most
everything you might do is sin.
"Tao" is very old religion in China, as far as i know that was built in 3000 years ago. There is not much people know what Taois in China, because it was transfer ed by oral. Teacher tell their students and students tell the students' students... today,we can find some books talking about "Tao" in book shop, but most of them were not writ ed by the real Taoist. The real Daoist be busy with training their body to realize their dream everyday.
