Default taoism and longevity?

Since Taoism focuses on nature and taking actions that don't go against nature, then how come Taoists believe in longevity and basically strive for immortality when it's not natural to be immortal, etc

It is natural to wish to live for as long as one remains healthy and mentally sharp. There is such a thing as quality of life. We Taoists understand that the body and mind are a system. One cannot be healthy with out the other. We do "moving meditations" ( Tai Chi) to maintain a flow of chi or energy through our bodies and our minds to maintain our health. We pay attention to what we eat and drink. We care about health because it is part of life.

Taoists believe that living in disharmony with nature unnaturally shortens life (something pretty much confirmed by science), and that a byproduct (not the goal) if living in harmony with the universe is an increased lifespan (and to be fair to them, Chinese peasant were living well into their 80's at a time when Europeans were considered "elderly" at 30 and generally dropped dead in their 40's).
