Because as Bongo said, Christianity is quite incompatible with psychological and intellectual maturity. Christians tend to be immature people that suffer from low self-esteem who want a parental figure (god as "father"), who want to believe in magic ("miracles" and "divine intervention", etc) and who want simple explanations they can understand ("god created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7Th", etc).
.
Also, there's nothing like reality! *grin* I don't know about Taoism, but I can tell you as a zen practitioner of nearly 20 years, zen is all about REALITY - accepting it, embracing it, and keeping it always "right in front of your face" and your mind. I would think it would be very hard for a scientist, a physicist, who knows the reality of how things actually work to believe in such foolishness as "miracles" and "divine intervention" etc.
.
In my experience Christians are indeed very illogical people- and not only that, but people who actively *choose* ignorance in the face of facts. Sadly, in it's least harmful form this is immaturity, and in it's most harmful form is mental illness.
