The very best way to understand Taoism is to study Tai Chi. Seriously, the Tao is not easy as a verbal concept. It is much more readily comprehended in doing the principles. It was for me. You don't have to make it life long practice to "get it" if you don't want to either. You just need a reputable, teacher from a line of good teachers, you can actually look them up in many places.

Tai Shang Gan Ying Pian. In the West people always think of the Tao Te Ching, but in China, Taoism is identified with the Gan Ying Pian.
