Followers of the Way. A middle path of nonresistance. Doing without doing, being without being. They use a book called the Tao Te Ting written by Lie Tze. (not sure on spelling) EDIT-thanks for the corrections Nicholas :-)

Lau Tzu wrote the Tao Te Ching.
He *DID NOT* invent Taoism. It was around for thousands of years.

It is all about yin and yang. Balancing opposites of life. Everything has an opposite side that balances it out.

Taoist respect nature and are most of the time , also Pantheists.

There is nothing that you need to do to be Taoist, just do nothing, and you will *BE*.

The info is in the Zhuan Falun Lecture on the web.

About Taoist, read ?One Standard Alone Determines if Someone is Good or Bad: Whether He is Able to be True, Good, and Endure?. There is various mention of Daoist in the book as well.

Not relating to Buddhism, Falun Gong is a unique Buddha Schools. Falun Gong is based upon the universal principals of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance.

Taoism is more a philosophy than a religion - at least in the way western people define religion.

Some of the answers above are accurate regarding aspects of Taoism, but if you really want to understand it, you should go straight to the Tao Te Ching.

Here is a free translation of it - it's short, bu you should take your time reading it.

It is ancient Chinese way of living. It is more a code of social conduct than religion. Lao Tse was a contemporary of Buddha whose teachings are known by the word Tao. It belonged to 6Th century B.C.
