The Yin Yang sign represents ultimate duality and change. Darkness to light and light to darkness, over and over again.

EXCELLENT QUESTION! The "yin-yang" symbol of Eastern religions represents the fact that the universe is based on complementary opposites, such as good/evil, hot/cold, light/dark, up/down, day/night, and, believe it or not, male/female.

Violating the yin-yang principle with absurd notions like "homosexual marriage" is to dent the very fabric and foundation of existence itself, and risks calling down destruction on ones self and those nearby.

"yin yang" means peace.
It signifies 'balance' - which is what brings about peace, or so it's thought..

I personally don't believe that stuff.

"used to describe how seemingly distinct or opposing forces are interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, giving rise to each other in turn" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yin_and_yang

Without one, the other cannot exist. Good/Evil, Light/Dark.

Balance and Harmony

Why the dot of opposing color, then? It was explained to me many years ago that it symbolized that there is nothing pure in this world. No true pure evil or true pure good. A bit of feminine in men and a bit of masculine in women.
