Confucius was philosophical, little bit religious. He said that a good society is a society that has both discipline and love, not just one. Love from authority to the people and discipline from the people to the authority. Taoism is basically all about letting nature takes its course. If a building is to hard to build, why build it, why not live with nature. This is why flowers and gardens are very well seen in East Asian.

Differences is that Taoism does not say you need to do this and that, just live with nature. This is where Confucianism differs.

1. (Tao and Confucius) They both believe that you must act accordingly in some way. These two are different also in the sense that Tao believe the life is to be lived according to the Tao and Confucians believe to live it according to actions
2. Also, the Confucians believed you need to understand the relationship with family, and to follow the five goals of Confucianism
3. The Buddhists had a totally different idea for this though? they believe that you just need to follow behavior in the ways of the eightfold path and the nine precepts. In the category of view of society, each belief has a different view

4. The Confucians believed that you develop good character through a good life and that everyone has their own role.
5. The Tao?s thought society to be negative

They all influenced China

1. The Confucians influenced the basis of society, family structure, and the government for thousands of years.
2. The Tao influenced the poetry types Li-Po and TuFu.
3. The Buddhists influenced China by the improvement of landscape painting and that was pretty much it.

Hopefully this helps, if you need anything, just add a comment and I will answer

Confucianism & Taoism are both "complementary religions," in that a)they both originated in China & b) Confucius & Lao Tzu(the founder of Taoism)both knew one another.

Confucianism focuses on man's relationship with his fellow man, while Taoism is concerned with man's relationship with nature.

Taoism is polytheistic(numerous deities), & Confucianism is monotheistic(One God, IE, "Ti'en), although Confucianism--like Taoism--practices ancestor worship.

Both Taoists & Confucianists use the I Ching.

Buddhism originated in India, & is an offshoot of Hinduism.
It was founded by Siddartha Gautama, aka the Buddha(or 'Enlightened One'). It was an import into Asia, & is practiced alongside Taoism & Confucianism. Buddhism, like Taoism, is polytheistic(numerous deities).

All 3 religions may still be observed by those who are atheistic or agnostic.

Confucianism = a philosophy for the structure and running of society. Entirely practical as it has no concern with God, only worldly concerns. Worldly concerns are best satisfied by clear hierarchies of power within family and government, people recognizing these hierarchies and abiding by them. Confucianism is family cent red with a strong emphasis on filial piety (honoring elders and ancestors).

Taoism = philosophy of how nature works. Taoism says for every action there?s a reaction, for whatever exists there is always an opposite. Taoists aim to live and structure everything by balancing competing forces which brings a supra natural balance that can?t be seen or felt but is there. Taoism therefore is different to Confucianism as it?s not concerned with running society or how people live if it?s in non-mystical ways.

Buddhism is in-between Confucianism and Taoism. Buddhism is both spiritual and provides guidelines on how Buddhists are to behave in society. Buddhism is not concerned with family life as it encourages men and women to leave their families and retreat to monasteries as Buddha did. Therefore there was conflict between Confucianism and Buddhism early on, because their values in this regard were at opposite ends. Buddhism contains a strong spiritual element as Taoism does.

Eastern religions and societies have a history of tolerance so it wan?t long before Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism were all ?merged? into a way of life that included elements of all these philosophies into one. One specific Buddhism school that emerged from this merge was Zen Buddhism, by combining Taoism and Buddhism into one specific religion.

The info is in the Zhuan Falun Lectures on the web about the Buddhism, in the section ?Buddhist Qigong and Buddhism".

About Taoist belief, read the last paragraph in section, ?One Standard Alone Determines if Someone is Good or Bad: Whether He is Able to be True, Good, and Endure?

Confucianism governs the moral standard of people in the community: kindness, brotherhood, manner, knowledge, and trust.

Good luck.
