Buddhism is based on following the 8 fold path set out by the Buddha.

Taoism is based on going with the flow, no ritual or rules at all.

Let me know if you need anymore info- you can email me.

I don't know a lot about Buddhism but I can tell you that it's possible to be a Taoist without any outward signs of ritual, dress, or prayer. You can simply live by some philosophies and only appear as a well balanced, happy, goodhearted person. Buddhism appears to me to involve more ritual and symbolism. But someone else would know more details about that.

In the section ?Buddhist Qigong and Buddhism? of the Zhuan Falun Lecture on the web, you can find out a concise discussion about different flavors in Buddhism.

Read the last paragraph in section ?One Standard Alone Determines if Someone is Good or Bad: Whether He is Able to be True, Good, and Endure? to find out the main difference.

Not relating to Buhhdism, Falun Gong is a sect in the Buddha Schools. Falun Gong is based upon the universal principals of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance.

Buddhism is an organized system of thought, and offers a method to live, and, subsequently, eventually, to get off the wheel of Samara. Taoism offers no prescription really, no rules, and has nothing whatever to say about the end game. But they are similar. Buddhism says: don't grasp...and Taoism says: go with the flow...So you see, they are very similar.
