Is there a number of laws for Hinduism, Confucianism, Taoism, Shintoism, and Zorastri
Like how Judaism/Christianity have the 10 commandments, Buddhism has the 8 fold path, 5 pillars for Islam, is there a certain number for those religions?
I'm sure various sects and denominations have various rules and practices and traditions, but it all boils down to this--
"This is the sum of Dharma [duty]: Do naught unto others which would cause you pain if done to you". Mahabharata, 5:1517
"Tse-Jung asked, 'Is there one word that can serve as a principle of conduct for life?' Confucius replied, 'It is the word 'shy' -- reciprocity. Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire.'" Doctrine of the Mean 13.3
Shinto:
"The heart of the person before you is a mirror. See there your own form"
Taoism:
"Regard your neighbor's gain as your own gain, and your neighbor's loss as your own loss." T'ai Shang Kan Ying P'ien.
Zoroastrianism:
"That nature alone is good which refrains from doing unto another whatsoever is not good for itself". Dadistan-i-dink 94:5
Actually, this same one rule is also the basis for rules of Judaism, Christianity, Islam and Buddhism, or as Rabbi Hillel said when asked to summarize the entire Torah while standing on one foot, "What is hateful to yourself, do not do to others, all the rest is only commentary, go and study it."
Sorry to correct you, 8 fold paths is the teaching, a way to live as upright and just person, and it is not laws, but rather a method to avoid incurring negative karma, so as to avoid creating causes for future sufferings.
We Buddhists have no laws, we have precepts- We have voluntary accepted and choice to follow, because Buddha told us, and its is for the good of us to avoid creating negative karma, which we will then need to suffer in the future for ripen karma.
We have Lay Person Five Percepts- just like Ten commandments, without three about God's pride, and Commandment of respect thy Parents- as Easterners, that is the basic morality of our societies and no need to stress that in the Commandments again. We also don't have "Thy should not covet other wife" and that is also our moral make up in our societies.
We also have the student Monks / Nuns precepts, we have fully ordained Monk/ Nuns' precepts, and we have precepts for the full Layman practitioners' precepts.
Taoists flow with Universal force, no laws but voluntary respect of Nature and want to unite with the Universe.
You are in error here. The ten commandments are not a part of Christianity.
The ten commandments are the core of the "old covenant" between God and Israel, and not God and Christians. Christians are party to the "new covenant" and this law is a spiritual law that does not include the letter of the old covenant law. See Romans 7:6 for example.
