Did you mean Hoodoo (the religious practice)? or Voodoo?
Witchcraft is what it states if you take the word apart and use the old Europeon form of the word Witch, which is closest to the Anglo-Saxon Wiccae, meaning Wise one. It was nicknamed the "Craft of the Wise." It is a craft and is not by itself a religion. But many religions around the world use various forms of witchcraft. Through witchcraft you can manipulate energy for either good or evil.
Hoodoo is not witchcraft. You do not have to participate in witchcraft to be a Hoodoo believer. But most Hoodoo people are practitioners, and believe in a host of evil and good spirits, and believe that these spirits are the souls of the dead, and in order to communicate with the dead, we must please them through witchcraft. That's the best I've got.
Keep in mind, Hoodoo is very different than Voodoo!
