Default What is the difference bewteen voodoo and witchcraft?

1.Voodoo has been legalized in some countries like Haiti, does that go for witchcraft as well?
2.Are they both evil practices that you feel should be abolished?
3.Is voodoo, satanism and witchcraft the same?

Voodoo is a combination of native African religion and Catholicism. They even use the symbol of the cross for their own purposes. Voodoo has some magical practices. I guess you could say that they use witchcraft. Witchcraft is a practice and not, by itself, a religion. Laws that prohibit witchcraft have been appealed (taken away) in just about every state in America and most of Europe. I do not think that either Voodoo or witchcraft is, by itself, evil. It can be used for evil purposes, but most often is not. Voodoo has it's own gods and none of them is Satan. Satanism either worships Satan (the Theistical Satanists) or uses him as a loose example of how strong, independent people should be.

Why dint You do some studying and en-lighten Yourself? You cant be a Satanist if You dint believe He exists.Wasn`t He invented so the masses would convert to Chritianity away from the old religion!?-.Yes.The horned God (Pan ETC)got labeled Satan. Voodoo and witchcraft are both legal in the U.S.

The only time when a religion is evil is when it is used for evil. Both Voodoo and Witchcraft are Old Tribal Traditions that have been carried on into modern times.

Witchcraft (sic) is commonly called "The Old Religion" or "The Old Ways" by REAL WITCHES (sic) because their isn't really any name for the Many Religions it encompasses, these are people that can be considered bonfire "Hereditary Witches." Actual "Witchcraft"(sic) is very different from Wicca although many Hereditaries have converted to Wicca for the purpose of fellowship.

True Witchcraft dose not have books of Shadows, Covens, or other romanticized notions created by the witch craze: The Traditions are very simple respectful honoring of nature spirits, herbal (folk) medicine, and faith healing that have been passed down and evolved by families since paleolithic times.

Satanism is a "denomination" of Christianity it originated during the inquisitions and is based upon the fabrications of books used to prosecute alleged "witches." such "witches" included Practitioners of Tribal Traditions Native to Europe, Jews, Muslims, opposing Christian Denominations, and anyone else considered politically incorrect at the time.

Contrary to the Romanticized notions of paganism,Smany "Witch Traditions" gradually Christianized over the years, incorporating Christianity into their Traditions. My Maternal Grand mother taught me how to cast a Circle by using 12 stones and reciting the seven days of creation from the Bible. This is done by placing the first stone in the East and reciting the verses that tell of the first day of Creation. Then two stones are placed forming a circle around the caster to the west; this is done 5 times with 5 pairs of stones. With the last stone the caster closes the stone ring and recites the day of rest as it is told in the second chapter of Genesis.

Give it a try, use 12 fist sized stones. You will see that it has nothing to do with evil spirits of devils, demons, or anything of the sort.

1. In America we have the freedom to practice any religion we want. I practice Vodou and witchcraft. As for others countries I can not give an answer to that because I live in the US

2. They are not evil practices at all. All religions have negative and positive aspects. There are people out there that abuse the use of witchcraft and Vodou (Bokors) for there own purpose. It is the same in the Christianity, Islam, Jewish, etc... religions also. To abolish religion would be to abolish freedom to express oneself spiritually. I think that is evil

3. Vodou, satanism, ad witchcraft are all totally different practices. Vodou is a religion that honors the ancestors, serves the Law, and honors Bondye (God). Witchcraft is simply the practice of magic. I dint know much about satanism but i know that Levey satanism did not worship Satan. They believed in personal gain no matter the consequence.
