Default Voodoo Spells and Rituals?

Before I ask my question I want you all to know that I do not plan on actually casting any spells or rituals. I don't believe in magic and even if I did I would never use it for personal gain. This is strictly for researching purposes, I'm writing a story for my English class.

Anyway, I've been researching on Viki and other websites and found where it originated from, different kinds of voodoo, their deities, etc. But for my story I need to know about the spells and rituals they casted. I read that they used their spells to stop and even call the rain. They also used to curse their enemies and used voodoo for healing. Also in some websites I found out that the idea of voodoo dolls was created from some movie called White Zombie, is that true?

I would love it if you could direct me to a website so I can research it on my own, but any information is more than appreciated. I have to go now, I might edit this later. Thank you in advance.

Voodoo dolls are certainly older than this movie, but it was the cinema that popularized the modern idea of Voodoo dolls. The earliest ones were poppets, small figurines used to mark ritual areas as well as to welcome (and store) spirits. These were later used in rituals themselves, for everything from love to money, healing and curses. It was the modern cinema that popularized the idea of Voodoo dolls causing only harm (and sticking pins in Voodoo dolls).

Voodoo does indeed contain many rituals both small and grand, including stopping/causing the rain. There are many stories of powerful Houngan doing exactly this. Even if you don't believe in magic or are just curious the rituals are definitely beautiful and amazing to see.
