Default Is it true that Haiti, as a nation, was dedicated to Voodoo in 2005?

If you say 'yes' please supply references / quotes in support.
If you say 'no' please supply reference support for this being an urban legend. Thanks everyone!
The Wiki link also says that some 50% of Haitians practice Voodoo, so this makes the statistics on Christians questionable, Acid! Well, it does if you take Christianity to be a monotheistic religion, with only the Creator being worshiped. Christianity maintains that the second you add any other gods to it, it ceases to be Christianity. Good link, though.

I don't know either way, but it sounds like Pat Robertson propaganda. We all know his Christ-like views on Haiti.

Haiti is a majority Christian country, with strong roots in Roman Catholicism. Around 80% of Haitians profess to be Catholics. Protestants make up about 16% of the population.

To a degree from what I have read. I recently read a brilliant book The Black saga, not the recent book by the same name, it covered the entire history. I can't give references there are too many that have made me reach this conclusion.
I will say that I clearly see a lot of parallels between Christian (and all other religions) religious rites and voodoo, they aren't that different.

Since the only people I've ever heard making this claim are whack job fundamentalist Xtians, and never once have they offered any evidence to support that claim, it's a pretty safe bet that it's false.

The most historically important Vodou ceremony in Haitian history was the Bwa Kayiman (Bois Caiman) ceremony of August 1791 near the city of Cap Haitien that began the Haitian Revolution, led by the Vodou priest named Boukman. During this ceremony the spirit Ezili Dantor came and received a black pig as an offering, and all those present pledged themselves to the fight for freedom. This ceremony ultimately resulted in the liberation of the Haitian people from their French masters in 1804, and the establishment of the first and only black people's republic in the Western Hemisphere, the first such republic in the history of the world. Haitian Vodou came to the US to a significant degree beginning in the late 1960s and early 1970s with the waves of Haitian immigrants under the oppressive Duvalier regime, taking root in Miami, New York City, Chicago, and other cities mainly on the two coasts.

Before fun dies even mentioned voodoo being present in Haiti, the history of Haiti was well known to be involved in voodoo during the time of the revolution from the French. This is a well known fact and anyone saying otherwise is speaking out of total ignorance.

There does not seem to be any mention of it on sites.

If you put into search, Jean Bertrand Aristide & voodoo
a lot of info comes up. In 2003 he sanctioned voodoo as
an officially recognized religion.
One other site mentions he left the catholic church &
returned to voodoo & used it for political clout as well
as having a cockerel on his insignia, a well known symbol
of voodoo. If he returned to it he would have used any
supposed power to better his hold on Haiti & one rumor
has him dedicating Haiti to Satan & voodoo. One priest
said he would absolutely have used this to intimidate.
