Default Which loa is right for me? A question for voodoo/occultists?

I've recently been doing a lot of research on the occult and voodoo in particular speaks to me. I am of white European Descent and was raised in a loosely catholic family. I have no ancestral, geographic or friend-based connection to voodoo. The more I investigate the more enthralled I become. I live in north Texas and have no access to voodoo circles or groups but am searching for the real deal. There seems to be many eager.to sell me books, charms and "spiritual counseling". So basically I'm lost in a sea of contradictory information, shysters and fools. I take particular int rest in baron seamed because of his personality but what are the benefits/disadvantages of patronizing him? Is there a method of finding the Lao you should patronize? Does carrying a verve in itself have any power? Where is a good free resource to lea rd about Verdun?

First off, you don't "patronize" the Lao. They patronize you.

Ideally, you should find a Vodou group and start being inducted into the religion. The Hogan and mambo will be able to tell you how you're supposed to figure out which Lao to ally yourself to.

North Texas is close enough to Louisiana that there are bound to be Vodou groups somewhere. And if not, there's always Santeria/Lucumi/La Regla DE la Ocha, which is very similar. It just comes from different African influences and is overlaid with Spanish Catholicism, instead of French Catholicism.

EDIT: Palo/Las Reglas de Kongo is also practiced in the US, so you should see if you can find anything related to that on the off chance that you can't find any Vodou/Voodoo or Santeria groups.

And your ethnicity shouldn't be an issue. In Vodou, specifically, there are loa who are European, like Madame Charlotte, who is a European loa who only speaks French to her devotees.

search for God
he is the only one you should be following/patronizing and most importantly loving and adoring is God, hes so much more interesting than all those devilish things like voodoo
he is really amazing and he is our father, learn about him!

?When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable way of the nations there. Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spirits or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and because of these detestable practices the Lord your God will drive those nations before you. You must be blameless before the Lord your God. The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the Lord has not permitted you to do so? (Deuteronomy 18:9-14).

may God bless your mind and heart!
