our ex best friend gave us bracelets for our birthdays, and it turns out that he's a total fake jerk, so we'd just like to do something to secretly "get back" at him to make us feel better...

It's possible to use the link created through a gift freely given to get at someone, but it's really not advisable. If he's just a jerk - if he's not causing irreparable harm to people and refusing to stop - then it's best to just sit back and wait for the fates to catch up with him. Using magic against him will open you up to retribution as well, and it's not really wise to bring yourself to the attention of the Powers that rule that kind of thing unless you have NEVER done anything wrong yourselves.
