Is the religion Voodoo evil?

Is the religion Voodoo evil?

That's a hard question to ask considering "evil" can be interpreted in many ways depending on the responders religion, culture, spirituality, etc. In my case I was taught that it was and that one shouldn't mess with it. I'm sure people of other backgrounds will think differently though.

Why not read about it and determine for yourself? Other people's opinions do not make it so.

And those with no experience with the religion tend to take their ideas about it from movies and such, which of course, do not portray it accurately...but that doesn't stop people from confusing reality with fiction.

Charlotte - I don't understand what it is you are trying to say with that broken up typing there, but Vodoun IS a religion. It is NOT just about magic, and there is no such thing as "black magic" or "white magic". Individual people may have evil or good intentions. Magic is a tool. Just like a hammer is a tool. I know of no religion in which the followers are taught to worship and be "evil".

No more than any religion. Less than, for instance, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism.

Not really, but it depends on your perspective. For example, fundamentalist Christians would consider it evil but they consider any religion other than Christianity evil, and even then only their sect is the 'right' one.
