Don't know where you got your information, but "voodoo economics" refers to supply-side trickle down theories.

George Bush Sr. was referring to Supply-side economics when he coined the term "voodoo economics"

VooDoo economics was a term coined by George Bush1during the Repugnantcan primaries as a response to Ronnie Raygun's idea of ripping of the middle class.

Actually voodoo economics is a form of Kensyan economics because it supports a strong centralized bank and Austrian economics does not. So the real question is why do liberals support Kensyan economics and not Austrian economics? They want a centralized bank because they know it will create a poor population through hyperinflation(increasing the supply of money) and they have something to campaign on which is "helping the poor".
