Default Do you personally feel that Wicca/Paganism is a religion?

Please specify your religion if you have one.

Yes, but I am skeptical that Wicca is a survival of an ancient religion. I think it is a new creation.

Yes, of course it is. I am a Hindu, not sure why that's relevant to the question.

Anyway, Wicca/Paganism involves a worldview and ritual practices, beliefs about the natural and supernatural world, and generally has a community of believers. It qualifies as a religion as much as any other I am aware of.

yes i do because it is what their hearts believe and that is how every person is different and I hate it when people don't listen to their hearts and go with what everyone else is doing.

I go with all religions just taking bits from each one because my heart tells me not to judge anything unless I am part of it myself.

As opposed to believing in an imaginary being that controls everything and smites you for being disrespectful?

Yes I do feel that Wicca is a religion. I know quite a few people in the coven where I live and they practice their religion and grow in their knowledge of and faith in their beliefs just like a Christian would in a Christian church. It is an ancient religion that is frequently marginalized in American society. The practitioners often stay low key due to problems with others misunderstanding the religion and calling them evil or satanic, which is very far from the truth.
I was raised Catholic but am currently wandering aimlessly trying to find a church that will full fill my spiritual needs.

Yes...

re?Li?gion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-Ln)
n.

Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

I?m a Gnostic Eclectic Pagan: Which for me means that I use my own instinctual, emotional, spiritual, whatever knowledge and that I believe in earth based religion with a Goddess and God.

Im a Wiccan and yes it definitely is a religion. We have collective worship in the form of coven meetings (although not essential as one can be a solitary witch) and a core central belief system in the form of the Wiccan Rede (an ye harm none, do what thou wilt.)

Sure we dint have the structure of other more mainstream religions but we have a strong sense of community and teach tolerance of other religions.)

You will probably get a few responses from the right wing Christian/Muslim factions saying we should all be burnt at the steak but i feel this is more a reflection at their own lack of faith rather than coherent argument.

Of course they are. Wicca is a branch of Paganism, but it is not the only branch of Paganism. I believe that all paths are valid, so I don't spend my time trying to define which ones qualify as actual religions.

I've been a Pagan for many years.

I am Wiccan and yes, it is. There is a core belief for all the traditions, it's called the Rede as someone pointed out. And some of the traditions go back HUNDREDS of years WITH PROOF! Most think of Gardnerian which is the most prominent, but it isn't the only one out there. The generational tradition I follow, meaning a family line, is older than some of the prominent churches out there today!

I am A BIBLE CHRISTIAN in the uncut version of the bible. Wicca/Paganism is just what it is FOLLY!., If you like foolishness and dealing with Satan and his dominion then that is what this invites. (Not to Offend YOU or any one else)Paganism is also en-grafted into today Christianity of people who deals with today's religion's.( Because there is no religion in the BIBLE) just the WORD. A lot of people that are uninformed are guided into this.

I'm Wiccan myself and I definitely feel that it and Paganism can qualify as religions. As for me, I feel there's more of a negative connotation surrounding "religion". So for that reason, I see my beliefs as my spirituality.

Naturally --and supernaturally-- IT IS.

Paganism is an OLD WORLD RELIGION that predates most if not all major religions we know of today. It was deemed to be 'heretical' under the hubris of the growing power of Catholicism as it gained momentum. It is the same thing with Shamanism, practiced by INDIGENOUS PEOPLES throughout the ancient and unexplored world.

Most of their worship pertained to deities, both seen and unseen, closely tied to Nature. Shamans [prophets], medicine men, and women were their respected elders whose rituals have been kept alive through ORAL TRADITION over the generations.

My spiritual religion follows The Law of our Heavenly Father and our Earthly Mother... I follow the sacred sevenfold teachings of 'The Brotherhood' as taught by Yeshua Messiah.

It is a recognized religion, the same as any other, why does it matter what someone be lives, as long as they do no Harm to anyone else. People shouldn't worry what someone else be lives, as long as they don't bother you.
Guess what I believe?

Yes, federally protected by the COnstitution and upheld by the supreme court. We have a ways to go towards equal rights, but as the fastest growing religion in the United States, we certainly are a religion. I'm a Wiccan, if you couldn't tell.

Yes, I believe Wicca is a valid religion. Paganism and Neo-Paganism aren't single religions however as these terms encompass a wide range of religions and beliefs including Wicca. I'm Wiccan.

Wicca is a legal religion, it does match the governments criteria for a religion, its churches can be tax exempt, and its clergy (like me) can perform legal marriages
