Because they would rather listen to people tell them things that may/may not be right rather than investigate it for themselves and learn what it really is.
Christians are simply biased against Paganism/Wicca because it is not Christianity. They have no real knowledge of it and tend to equate it with satanism without truly getting to understand what it really teaches.
nobody assumes that, its just Wicca people act all powerful and then feed from the bottom of society no matter where you go. never as successful as they claim, or as happy for that matter. they quest for beauty, riches and power and end up living like a bad joke.
always giving into the desires of their flesh they are weak and the guidance they give is weaker, and more dangerous
its going to be bad for some people on judgment day like those mass murderers who die spewing hatred, but the punishment for those who teach with craft and/or worship of any other idol or being to others is very clearly spelled out for us in the Bible.
simply put most people aren't stupid enough to involve them self in that kind of guidance.
I don't "assume" anything about paganism/Wicca. I'm sure that it does offer "spiritual" worship and guidance for those circumstances you mention. The question is, what spirit is guiding that worship and teaching?
Is it the eternal and Holy Spirit of the Living God of Heaven? Or is it an earthly spirit that seduces men and women into accepting a false assurance and provides wisdom that in the end sends souls to perdition for a deceptive and temporal gain?
"Now the (Holy) Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, 1 Timothy 4:1
I take it you have recently encountered someone Else's preconceptions about paganism? Don't beat your head against the wall trying to figure it out... it's fear that closes people's minds. We have all been afraid at one time or another. Live and let live. Be as honest and true to yourself as you can... everyone is on their own path. It is true that pagan communities offer support in all the areas you named. If others don't believe it, you can't make them. Blessed Be!
People who have taken the time to actually look into paganism/Wicca do know that it offers these things. Only those completely ignorant and unschooled in these things could think otherwise and to put Wicca in the same category as devil worship and dark magic (as some of the answering have done here)is completely asinine! There have been too many movies, television programs and songs that equate any kind of witchcraft with devil worship. People who want to get their information in this easy way choose to believe what they hear and see. Those who delve deeper and crack open a book or look up a website will be pleasantly surprised to find what a loving, caring, peaceful spiritual path Wicca truly is and that they don't even believe in "the devil". Blessed be.
I think the only people who assume that are ignorant of our practices. Mainly Christians, but not all Christians assume that Christianity is the only religion interested in spiritual counseling. But there are many Pagan spiritual counselors. SOme advertise on Witchvoz.com.
