Default In Wicca, can you substitute gods and goddesses for daemons?

From what I've read, daemons are the old nature spirits used by pagans.

you might want to consider looking farther afield than Wicca if you want that answer. the guy who made up the cult wasn't too good at details, in fact, he stole most of his details from other pagan religions

Coming from a practitioner of Wicca, I would say yes. So long as you harm none and spread good throughout the Universe, I see no problem with this at all.

These Eight Words The Rede Fulfils:
An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will

Remember though that things are not always as they appear. Just my $0.02. Hope this helps.

what you read is incorrect.

there are positive, (good) spirit entity's below God, and above angels, that are what many pagans generally deal with.

they aren't evil.

Demons are Christian creations.

The early church felt threatened by paganism, so decided that the pagan gods and goddess' must be from the devil and called them demons.

Personally, I don't particularly care WHAT you call them. It is no concern of mine.

Wiccans are pagans, but not all pagans are Wiccan. Being Wiccan myself, I don't believe in demons. Maybe some do, but I don't personally know of any. May I assume that you are referring to evil beings as is recognized my some religions? I believe there are dark (or evil) forces but not as entities. And it is not permitted in my house! Evil, IMHO is a human concept and does not exist in nature.

The big thing to remember is that there is a difference between demons (common usage referring to evil spirits, fallen angels, etc.) and daemons (Greek work that simply refers to spirits, with no determination of good/evil/what-have-you.)

Now, for most normal usage of daemons, it's referring to... "minor spirits" - beings that typically weren't thought of as gods. While there might have been (not terribly sure) veneration of daemons, especially the more powerful ones, I don't think you'd want to consider them as substitutes for the gods. Something to honor in addition to, certainly, but I wouldn't recommend honoring them instead of.

Wicca does not believe in demons, but rather energy, both positive and negative. One can not exist without the other. There is always a balance in nature.

Some pagan religions do have demons but not Wicca. All Wiccans are Pagan (Neo-Pagan to be exact) but not all pagans are Wiccan, there has to be that distinction. Native American religions are Pagan. Indiginous religions of Africa and Australia are Pagan by nature since they are earth-based. Some of these have gods and demons. However, again, Wicca does not.

I don't know where you read that, but Pagans don't believe that.
