I am a Buddhist, but I assume it would have to do something about ignorance and lack of compassion towards others--not intended as an attack on Christians, just an observation about people and the nature of people.
Often fearful and condemning of things they have no understanding or knowledge of.
People think that because they're afraid of what they don't know or don't completely understand.... I've been... let's say ....into Wicca - and there's nothing evil about it.
It's a religion (or practice) just like any other. Who cares what people think, anyway? If it resonates with who u are... that's all that matters.
Stop trying to understand WHY people (Christians... or whomever u like to take as an example)... People are anything BUT rational...
According to my beliefs it is a sin, but I think a sin is a sin is a sin. If there's a Wiccan who has a question about Christianity, I will answer it respectfully and not force my opinion on them by telling them they are going to hell or that they are evil. After all, who am I to condemn the sin of others when I sin myself?
Because for one, most Christians dint understand Wicca and lump it into witchcraft, which maybe it is or isn't, I dint know. But anybody that is in one religion is going to believe it is right and that the others are wrong. I only knew one person that was Wicca and he was just plain nuts. So while I (being a Christian) dint think it is evil, it directly conflicts with what I believe. But its OK, I still love you.
It is because a lot of Wiccans like to identify themselves as witches. The whole "do not sufferer a witch to live" sort of thing in the Bible does put a bit of taint on the word. There is the use of the pentagram by some Wiccans, which has also been associated with devil worship. In general, Christianity has always seen pagan beliefs as a belief in demons, dating back as early as one can go. Thus, a Wicca, as a Noe-pagan, would be seen as worship ping demons. It has nothing to do with ignorance. Indeed, quite the opposite: Christians who think the Wiccan religion is evil are merely aware of the traditions associated with paganism in the past.
Because it's easier to repeat back what's been drilled in to your head than it is to actually do some research and learn the truth. This whole "It's a sin" thing really gets on my nerves. Having your own beliefs and your own mind is a sin? Well then, I'm happy to be in the company of so many wonderful sinners.
Ignorance may be bliss, but it does less than zero to help in understanding. Some people will never, ever believe that we are doctors, lawyers, social workers, parents and everything else associated with "normal" life. We're those freaks who kill kitties and have sex anywhere and everywhere. It's a shame that they demand understanding form us while giving us nothing but grief in return.
I think it's because in the Bible, God makes it clear from the days of the Israelites that sorcery was not to be tolerated.Exodus 22:19 is part of the law that God lay ed out for the Israelites, and it warns for them to not even let a sorceress live. In 2 Chronicles 33:6,King Manasseh is being described as making his own sons pass through the fires of Hinnom (which was common practice for followers,to sacrifice their children)and of practicing magic and using divination and practicing sorcery and using spiritualistic mediums and fore tellers. It says he did" on a grand scale what was bad in God's eyes." These are just a couple of the scriptures that ,as Christians,we must pay attention to and follow if we are to please God with our worship. I am not suggesting that we take the life of anyone practicing Wicca (or white witchcraft) but I am suggesting that this is why practicing Christians think of Wicca as they do. Hope this helped!!
I spent 15 years as Wiccan (Noe-pagan) before I became a Christian. I sought to have a relationship with the universe. WIcca lied to me. True, I was able to "cast spells" and accomplish things - but by whose power? The Bible tells us that witches and those who consult witches are wrong. please, consider reading the gospel of John. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the light.." He is the only way. If you are questioning things, maybe God is calling you.
1. Fear of what they do not know; There is a lot of misinformation spread about Wicca and other pagan paths. People don't know what to make of us.
2. Bigotry; People don't want others to have different ideas from their own. Wiccans are an easy target. Because people just started becoming aware of us within the last 10 years.
3. Religious Disagreement; Some religions stand on the opposite spectrum from Wicca. Most Christians believe we are an abomination.
Oh by the way... to the lady who claimed she used to be Wiccan and now is Christian. You never bot into the religion, just the magi ck. If you had, you would have known that our religion does not believe in Satan. Also, Christianity has WAY more contradictionsNShat Wicca could ever have. Who is lying??? Nature or a Book with Words.
Most don't. I hear most of the "fluffier" Wiccans claim this and it's usually because they go out of their way to make a spectacle of themselves and a farce out of their own religion. I see a lot of this in the Pagan community. If someone insists on wearing a plate sized pentacle and preaching Wicca to others like it's on sale, people will eventually get annoyed, and when most people get annoyed, they'll say just about anything to make the cause of it go away.
in my studying of Wicca i have found that most Christians not all but the majority of them still feel the way that their forefathers did. They took the basic grounds of our religion to Form Christianity. Yes I am a Wicca so anyone who doesn't like us get over it. And yes the Christians did steal our religion. But after doing this they decided they didn't want use going around telling people how it really started and decided to have us killed. If it wasn't for the written history we would never know this. But the Main reason is because they want everyone to think they created Christianity when they didn't. We did.
