Default Christian learning about Paganism or Wicca?

Ok, I'm a total Christian but I would love to learn more about Paganism or Wicca. Do you think that's bad of me or makes me any less of a Christian? It's not that I'm going to start being a Wiccan or anything I would just love to learn more about it. Do you think that's bad? And where could I learn about Wicca and related subjects?

I believe you should know your enemy but Wicca is something you do not need to know, It is of Satan. period. Learning paganism will help you understand what is wrong with the Vatican. Start with Constantine.

I dint think its wrong. One should be knowledgeable about other religions it will make the world more tolerant when we understand others beliefs. You don't have to belief what they do but should be able to respect others beliefs. That is what Jesus would do. When one has educated themselves they are more likely to be that way. The first poster is a prime example of someone who is not educated in regards to others religions. The Wiccan religion has nothing to do with Satan in fact I don?t think they even believe in Satan. From what I have read it has to do with worshiping the earth . You might check out this forum - http://www.spiritualforums.com/vb/ - board it has people of all religions. It has a boards for Wicca and Paganism .

Getting more information is NEVER bad. Being better informed is always a good thing, regardless of the subject.

My suggestion is to read some of the books that Wiccans learn from. My first suggestion is Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin. I can offer many other suggestions as well:

I have a copy of the bible in my room that I read does that make me any less of a Wiccan? No because I don't believe in the bible but I love understanding other religions. I don't see why it would be diff rent if you learned about mine.

You believe in your god and Jesus so you will not be betraying them in any way if you learn. I think knowledge is a great thing and am glad you want to know rather than listening to people who don't know what they are talking about.

I'm not a Christian so I can't give you a Christian perspective on this but it is my understanding (after being Protestant for the first twelve years of my life) that simply learning about other religions is not inherently bad. The Christian god has made it clear that worship ping other gods and following other religions is bad but I don't remember reading anything in the Bible that said expanding your horizons and learning about something different was sinful.

If you're interested, http://wicca.timerift.net is a really good start and a good basic overview, especially if you've got no clue about Wicca or just want a brief introduction. The author has also provided excellent reviews of books for beginner, intermediate and advanced study of Wicca. If you want to know more about the history of it, see Ronald Hutton's 'Triumph of the Moon'.

Enjoy your studies!

That is a wrong path to follow...all you need is the Holy Spirit ask God to reveal Himself to you through Jesus Christ and receive the Holy Spirit so that your heart and mind will be opened, Pray and study the Holy Bible, His Words... ask Him to reveal himself to you daily...He is the only way to truth and life everlasting..

From a Pagan standpoint, it is not wrong to learn and understand. Since you are Christian, it would be 'Evil' for you to practice it. Knowledge is power. But there's a lot to read, as everyone practices different. You can look on this website, as it's not just one persons point of view, it is many. WNW.everythingunderthemoon.net/forum
