Reading about it is usually a good idea. There are specialty shops that deal in books on all sorts of subjects, including Wicca and other related religions and practices.

Find where all that will lead you in the judgment. It is a terrible thing to cast spells and do those things.

Why would you be interested in them? As I understand it,having witnessed to some of them on the life as a Christian and receiving God's grace; The Wicca worships nature, the trees and animals, etc
The Question I posed to them was " Why worship nature? Why not worship it's Creator, who created everything including us.

Is it basic information you want or something more ? If the former = you have access to the Internet. Start with a basic Google search. If the latter = then go forth to the new age book store in your area. & hopefully you can find an actual person to point you in the direction you want.
FYI: A spell is just a prayer. just with more ornamentation.

Read broadly across as many authors as you can find. You'll quickly discover which are more authentic and which authors have good, solid judgment, and which don't. But even reading those who may not have excellent judgment, or may be a little on the "fluffy" side can be of significant benefit, because it can clue you in on how some others see our faith. Occassionally, even relatively poor Wiccan authors do manage to discover a kernel of truth, too. Truth is where you find it.

I think once you have read broadly and come to know the body of literature on Wicca, then the next step might be to see if you can find a group close to you and attend some open circles and that sort of thing. It's important to get a feel for the community of your faith, and again to see how other people have chosen to do things.

Blessed Be!

i started with books one of my favorite's is 'the Wicca handbook',it is for beginners and for experienced vicunas but it has all the useful information in it for getting started but the most useful information comes from experienced vicunas but if you don't know any then there are some accounts on the Internet they are OK but not always as good, Wicca is not sinful as long as you stay on the right path and do not use black magic or use magic in hatred and only do magic if you are connected to the goddess so that she can keep you on the right track i wish you luck. blessed be xx

Read as much as possible. There's also several on line schools you can sign up for; there's a list on WNW.witchvox.com. However, as an Eclectic Wiccan Witch, I use Magical Circle School (WNW.mistresskalpanasrealm.com) and am learning a lot there.

P.S. Ignore those Bible beaters. They have *no* idea what the religion is about.

How much knowledge do you have, exactly? If you're just starting out you'll want to get some very basic books and have a look at http://wicca.timerift.net. If you've been through the beginner books check out the same site for reading recommendations at intermediate and advanced experience levels.

Aside from that, books can only take you so far. Wicca is an esoteric religion which means that a lot of your knowledge is going to come from observing your own practices, making changes, trying new things and communing with your gods - not from reading books alone. The best I can think of is to get in touch with Wiccans and pagans in your area and try to learn something about their personal practices.

Hopefully that helps a bit...

Merry Meet Animus Incendia,

My suggestion is to study, study, and study more. Cross reference everything you can. If you are lucky enough to have Metaphysical Stores in your local area, visit them often and ask questions. Possibly seek out and study with a circle, coven or grove in your local area. I personally believe that nothing beats a hand?s on approach to learning. But then that just my point of view!

If you are focused on a specific Tradition in the Craft, find a mentor/teacher on line or local to you that would?t mind having another student.

I hope that this blip has helped some. If you have any questions feel free to voice them.

Blessed Be

Nyjh

Reading from good, historically accurate sources is a good start. Then you need to start exploring it yourself by physically performing rituals, scurrying, meditating and just exploring whatever you've learned about in theory. During this time you should keep a book where you write down information you discover that is valuable, rituals you have created and performed and what result it had. This way you can keep track of what works and why.

A very good, basic place to start is here - http://wiccalessons.wordpress.com (it's free and provided by authors on Wicca)
