Default Confused about Wicca? Please help?

I just recently discovered the Wiccan from a book series by Cate Tierman called Sweep. I'm not just like, "Oh, that's cool, I want to destroy everyone I hate". I feel really drawn to it, like I'd like to learn more about it. At first I thought it was made up but then I Googled it and it's an actually religion. I'm Christian, and I think that makes things more complicated...I can't seem to straighten out my feelings and thoughts. My brain hurts, he he. I'm only a teenager. Does anyone know much about Wicca? Or help me straighten out my thoughts?

Also...I've always been interested and drawn to nature. Water is where I feel most at peace, and there's a modishashes near the river right by my house that I like to go to when I need a moment to think...I remember having thoughts even when I was little like I was tied to nature somehow. Ugh, I feel like a freak =|
I said that I am NOT interested in Wicca to hurt other people. Just to clarify.
Um, people who are coming here to say "No, stay close to God, etc." are not helping...that just makes me even more confused and horrible on how I feel.

Wicca is a pagan spiritual practice. It is one of the paths of Hermeticism. In Wicca and Hermeticism the intention is to be spiritually good. If you are interested in hurting others like you said, the study of Cabalistic magic and demon summoning may be right for you. Though I don't advise it, it will lead to possibly hundreds of years of agony (soul time wise).

Nature is created by God...that's why we are drawn to it.....it screams out His name.

Wicca is a religion without God....it comes in a beautiful package, but it is actually a tool used by Satan to keep you from God.

As a christian, you know that God tells us that anyone who practices witchcraft will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Continue to enjoy nature....it is God's gift to you.

There is a whole group of the people who are Christian and Wiccan. They called Trinitarian Wicca - http://www.christianwicca.org/

PS: You do not have to do the Witchcraft to be Wiccan.

I have a perfect videos for you watch. This guy John Todd was a witch that came for Scotland to the US, and he hold 13 states the he ran. he later became a Christian, and exposed the Illuminati. He said that witch craft is very very addicting. You cannot be a Christian and serve Satan with witchcraft. All witchcraft is, is demons. Resist the devil and stay strong with God. If you really want the truth, then look this videos up:

Wicca is a very peaceful belief contrary to what alto of Pol are taught. one of the main rules in Wicca is "harm not". here is a site that can explain better than i can--HTTP://www.wicca.com/celtic/wicca/wicca.htm
if you are drawn to nature and the elements, Wicca can be used to draw energy from them. it is not evil witchcraft in wick's true sense, but it can be used to hurt others and cast spells.

No wonder you're confused. Sweep is a TERRIBLE portrayal of Wicca (as are most fictional books and/or movies geared at youngsters making it out to be something it's not).

If I had a dime for every person I seen here saying they think they should follow Wicca because they felt peace next to a stream and calm in a meadow, then I think everyone would become Wiccan. The fact is, there is a LOT more involved in Wicca than having an affinity for nature.

Here, try this website. It will tell you MUCH more about Wicca than some fictional story:

I wouldn't mess with the dark side. I lost a good friend two months ago that turned to that to solve a personal problem. She was young with two young children. She died a horrible death. Deuteronomy 18:10-13 mentions things like that are an abomination. In Isaiah 14 and Job 1 and 2 It tells what Satan is all about. He murders children, kills servants, kills innocent animals, destroys cities, shakes world kingdoms, makes people sick, makes the world as a wilderness, makes fire come down, sends enemies to steal and kill. Why would you possibly feel drawn to that? Satan knows his time is short and he is going around seeing who he can destroy. Have you noticed how he is out of the closet and in children's books as well as in TV programs lately? Please don't even give him a foothold in your life. Amazing Facts with Doug Batchelor has some great on line Bible studies if you have more questions. You can pick up a Bible cheap at a dollar store.

I'm also a teenager, and I'm a Wiccan/Witch. Not all Wiccans practice Witchcraft (or, "The Craft"), but I do. I feel very close to nature as well, and water makes me very calm. Earthy things like animals, plants, etc. make me happy, Air also calms me, and Fire is very comforting to me. You're no more of a freak than anyone else, I promise. =D

There are Christian Wiccans, which may sound strange, and I don't know much about it, but it's something that may interest you. I was born into Islam (on my dad's side), but I never really believed in their ideals, so I was an Atheist/Agnostic for a while, and then I started thinking about what I believed, not based on something I read. I didn't think there was a religion that fit my beliefs until I found Wicca. I didn't even know about the religion until I started looking up things about my beliefs, so I feel that this is the path that's right for me.

You shouldn't feel horrible just because you're in between religions; it happens to a lot of people. And the people saying it's devil worship, they obviously know nothing about Wicca. It's a peaceful, nature-based religion, and if you'd like to know more, e-mail me at dgmqueen@hotmail.com

Hope this was helpful.

You are not a freak. Remember that most of our bodies are composed of water. It is natural to feel an attraction to it. I grew up near an ocean and I have to be in water at least once a week of I get grumpy.

Wicca and Paganism at its base form is a respect and a closeness to nature. Isn't it a part of Christian belief that God is in all things? So a respect for nature would still be in line with that.

There are almost as many paths and approaches to the religion as there are people. Things they have in common include:
A duality of Diety (having both a male and a female)
A belief that you do not need an organization (priests, etc) in order to talk with and commune with Diety.
A respect for nature.
A willingness to protect natural habitats and the creatures they shelter.

All else can change, they way they worship (alone or in groups), one Diety could be more highly respected than the other (Goddess groups place the Goddess above the God), even how they wish to dress for occasions.

I am a member of a Pagan Church (Pagan Alliance Church at http://www.PaganAllianceChurch.org). We do outreach and have rituals in the Albany, NY area as well as have a web presence. We are always happy to answer questions. Let us know if there are any other questions you have. I know of at least one member who is Pagan but their Dieties are Jesus and Mother Mary.
