Default Help with wicca solitary practice?

I am new to Wicca and i dint really know where to start. i have a book and Ive dabbled in this before but it was a few years ago, and the "coven" i was in did not really do anything, i am looking for some help on where to start!
Wicca has nothing to do with the devil, nor devil-worship.
Please do not give me links to satanist websites, or spout about how it is against Christianity or anything like that.

Our most recommended reading is:
Scott Cunningham: "Wicca: A guide for the solitary practitioner,"
It can also be found on line Thur "Google books"
Also:
Raymond Buckland: "Buckland's complete book of Witchcraft,"

Merry Meet Tom,

If you are interested in Witchcraft or Wicca, you can find reliable resources all over the net. The Links that I have placed may help you out and guide you to the right areas that best fit your unique needs.

Please understand though, that finding a mentor/teacher if you are fewer than eighteen years of age may prove to be a little difficult for you so I suggest Witchvox and/or Witchschool for you. Both will have resources and sections geared for adults as well as under aged practitioners.

Links for more information:
http://www.cuew.org/whatiswicca.html
http://www.sticksstonesnbeyond.com/wittanwicca.htm
http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/?once=true&

Networking:
http://www.witchschool.com/

E-Books:
http://www.scribd.com/search?query=Witchcraft

Classes;
http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/wiccaandpaganismbasics/u/WPBasics.htm#s9?nl=1

Also, I suggest staying away from groups and/or web sites that promotes negativity, because they tend to generate and cultivate that type of atmosphere and that will start your walk in the path with a biased light and you would miss out on some good information and resources that is out there for all to enjoy.

Just my thought on the issue, take from it what you wish and leave what you don?t like.

I hope my blip helps out.

Blessed Be

Nyjh

If you can find a local Pagan store they may be able to help you locate groups of like minded people. You may wish to do a search on The Witches' Voice (http://www.witchvox.com). The Witches' Voice is kind of like a social networking site for Pagans. Good luck =D

Hi and Merry Meet, Tom --

First, let me just say that i think you're very wise to ask such questions -- Unfortunately, there are an awful lot of wannabee, charlatans and "think-they-are's" who will give you all sorts of (MIStaken!) answers --

Actually, while i know that many beginners do, it's not such a great idea to begin as a Solitary -- I'm sorry you had such bad experience with your first Coven, because learning within a Coven, with the supervision of a good, experienced High Priest/ess, is the very best way to learn Wicca. There are several reasons for this: Wicca was originally intended to be practiced and learned, within the context of a Coven --
For just one brief example, there are a number of Wicca's most important, powerful, significant and beautiful rituals that can only be properly experienced within a Coven.

But you need to know how to find a *good* one -- Because a bad coven is just about like a bad, dysfunctional family!

Here -- Witchvox -- is where you might be able to find groups, Circles, Covens, Teachers, and more: Witchvox is a great resource for both information and contacts -- Try http://www.witchvox.com/xvn.html to find a coven (and other resources) in your area.

Also, Here are some good sites for reliable info onWicca: RESOURCES FORWICCANS:

CoG - Covenant of the Goddess - http://www.cog.orgCoG is a national organization of (legally-recognizedWiccan "churches) -Wiccan covens, clergy and solitaries -- with local "councils" in many cities. CoG provides general, basic information, links to resources and other organizations, Groups, Covens, teachers, High Priest(ess)es, and much more.

2. Circle Sanctuary - http://www.circlesanctuary.orgCircle is a Pagan (not justWiccan) Sanctuary, working farm, and learning center. It offers training, workshops, festivals, networking, and sponsors other organizations

. 4. Witchvox - http://www.witchvox.com Witchvox is a wonderful resource that offers general, basic information, referrals and links to local and regional resources on Pagan Classes, Groups, Organizations, Merchants, and more.

5.Wicca For the Rest of Us - http://wicca.timerift.net/ - One of the better Pagan internet sites; lots of good information, articles, resources, links, networking, etc.

4. ?BeginningWicca? Yahoo Group - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BeginningW? - One of the better Yahoo groups with several High Priests and Priestess members, so there are lots of good discussions and good information available in both the online discussions, and the Files section.

5. Religious Tolerance ? Pages onWicca: http://www.religioustolerance.org/witchc?

B. BOOKS:

1. Books And Authors To Avoid: -- AVOID anything by:

Silver Ravenwolf , Douglas Monroe's "21 Lessons of Merlin", Kisma Stepanich, Edain McCoy , or Mary Summer Rain

3 . Good Book Resources On Wicca:

a. Ellen Cannon Reed's "The Heart ofWicca" --
http://www.amazon.com/Heart-Wicca-Wise-W?
NOTE: This is the very first and major book i would recommend!

b. Starhawk's "The Spiral Dance",
c. Janet and Stewart Farrar's "The Witches Bible" -
d. Ray Buckland's "Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft" ?
e. Gerald Gardner's "Witchcraft Today" and "The Meaning of Witchcraft"

Of course there are many, many other good books, and new ones coming out all the time -- These are what might be considered "classics".

4. And finally, here are some articles on FInding Good Teachers:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Witch_Esse?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Witch_Esse?

If Wicca has nothing to do with Satan, then perhaps someone can explain why some Wiccan's had Satan hounding them in horrific ways and they had to turn to Christianity to get Satan of their back. This proves the existence of God and Satan and that this practice gives Satan rights with you that proves it is not something good as it may seem. http://www.wiccawitchcraft.net
