iv always like fiction kind of stuff like witch craft. i mean i know there is no true thing as a witch but i still Ike and i think its fascinating. and magic i think is interesting to i like to read books about that and i feel so connected to the book. now i am researching about Wicca and i looked it up and i think its kind of cool. but on Viki it says that they do magic at rituals and it talks alto about that and it talks about what they do but then i read that they dint do magic at all so whats true. what is Wicca really about
Some Wiccans use magi ck, some don't. It's really the preference of the Wiccan whether or not to use magi ck. There is no "Holy Book" that tells every Wiccan what he/she can or cannot do/believe in.
Most do magic, though some choose not to. But most also agree that magic is no supernatural force at all but jugs the effects of focusing and controlling ones own will power
Merry meet Abby.
I'll try and sum up a little about this aspect.
Wicca is a form of religion, in which (with the exception of the Wicca Reed and such) there are no exact rules that every person must follow. Each person may chose how best to work and follow their goddess and god. So in the same way, while some people may practice magic (though not the kind portrayed in fictional movies and books), others may not. It is a choice for each person to make individually depending on what they feel is right for them.
Hope I helped.
Wicca is a religion. It is about the gods, it is centered on the gods and the gods are at its core.
Magic is largely fake. What we do at rituals is probably not what you would consider magic, although many of us use a definition of magic that is probably very different from yours.
It's rooted in nature, like making a tea to heal a sore throat, and psychology, like meditating on an orange candle to pass a test (orange stimulates the intellect).
It's not hocks-pocus, instant gratification; it's an ancient spiritual tradition.
As for Wicca--- Wicca is a religion.
It's about honoring the Higher Power in the form of God and Goddess, about seeking balance in life and striving to live in harmony with your surroundings, about taking personal responsibility for your words, thoughts and deeds.
It was founded about 70 yrs ago, a reconstruction/reinvention of Northern European Pagan religions mixed with Witchcraft, influenced by freemasonry, Eastern philosophy & ceremonial magic.
Rituals are mainly worship services-- and as I've said, to Wiccans and Witches, magic isn't the fake stuff on TV. But not all Wiccans practice Witchcraft.
Wicca is a nature-based religion which focuses on the God and the Goddess, and the balance of the world. Practitioners can call themselves Wicca, Wiccan witches, Wicce/Wicca or the Wiccae, depending on tradition. There a lots of different rituals over the year, one every full moon (and in some traditions, new moon), and one for the eight or so Sabbaths (god-oriented festivals) of the year.
The truth is, we do practice 'magic'. I think you'll find that there are many different forms of witchcraft all over the world such as Reiki, Pow Wow, Voodun, Satanist Witchcraft, etc. In Wicca, magic is used to make the wanted outcome more likely to happen by using personal power or energy to affect the world around us. You're unlikely to believe this, but it does work and you can feel magic when you do it (if it works, of course. Magic is unreliable).
You may not believe in witches, but they're there. Just not in a stereotypical way.
