Default Question about the goddess and god of Wicca?

Can you pick which goddess/god to worship? Or do we just have to say Lady, lord, goddess, horned god etc.? Like say you wanted to worship Hera or Artemis or Apollo and Athena.

You can do whatever feels right. Some people do Lord, Lady, some do the named gods (I personally focus on Athena)

you can pick whoever you want. I've known so-called vicunas who worship Cthulhu. I'm not associated with them anymore.

The gods pick you in Wicca, not the other way around. It's not like putting on clothes or trying a new hairstyle.

Basically yes, if you are an eclectic Wiccan. You identify a Goddess and God from your pantheon with the Lady and Lord. My Goddess and God have names, but I haven't said which ... but it's not that the names are secret or anything, just that it's a very personal thing. It makes sense that your Goddess and God come from the same pantheon, but there are no rules about this.

Well yes and no...It all depends on how you view the Gods and Goddesses. I don't believe in multiple Gods and Goddesses but I believe each name addresses a different aspect... IE to my husband I am his wife, To my kids I am their mother, to my sister I am her sister etc. Calling me wife, mother or sister does not make me 3 different people.

They pick you. You don't pick them. As such, different Wiccans follow different deities. Some of us say "goddess" "god" "lord" lady" etc in public because we consider their names to be private for any one of many reasons. Also, it may be that you want to acknowledge whoever is calling you, but you don't yet know who they are. I knew they were there long before I had names to give them.

You should always work with the Gods and/or Goddesses that resonate most with you and/or your purpose. I was called by Eris years before I even knew the name. My wife was told to worship Hecate before she even knew the word "Wicca".

Wicca is a personal journey. All choices are yours. The responsibility for those choices is also yours. Own your choices. That is the essence of power.

Blessed Be
