(Wicca) First Time Casting Circle, Weird Feeling Inside?
Hello, and blessings to all! I'v been a Wicca for about a week or so. And, so i have been learning alto about the craft. Anyway, This was the first time I ever cast a circle. To my understanding you can use whatever you like when you cast a circle, and i used my box 360 controller cord because it is long and white, more for visual. I closed my eyes and evoked the God and Goddess, and just meditated. Soon, I felt this wave of dizziness. Is that normal?
I mean, it was a STRONG WAVE and it lasted for about 20 seconds... Then my heart began to pound very hard.
Last, is it OK for me to use my box controller wire? I mean, i can use this white cord, though it wont look that much like a circle... Thanks for your time, and blessed be!
Are you adjusted to meditating? It's quite common for experienced meditates to feel as if they floating in space--do it long enough and you can't feel the floor beneath you. This is where the idea of levitating during meditation comes from. I don't practice the craft, and I have never casted the magic circle, but when I'm meditating and I quickly sink into an altered state, I often feel as though every particle of my being is undulating. When I began the practice, it simply felt like the floor was shaking--exactly the same way it felt during my childhood after I had been spinning around a lot. (Yes, exactly the same as dizziness.
I wish you good luck and blessings in your spiritual practices and apologize for those here who have abused you! (And to think they did it in the name of God nauseates me. . .)
it wasn't demons! despite people's jeering and ignorance, magic is a powerful thing. so you were feeling it's power, that's all. you'll get used to that. your x-box cord is fine - you don't need a load of fancy stuff to cast a circle. as a matter of fact, i don't even cast circles, i sit at my alter instead because i haven't room anywhere in my house to cast a circle.
if you've only been doing it for a week, don't go crazy on the spells. take it slow, build yourself up. it's not wise to use magic for everything, just so you know welcome to the Pagan/Wiccan Path, and blessed be!
When you try too hard to visualize, or force yourself into a meditative state OR come out of it too quickly, you can cause yourself to become dizzy, lightheaded. I have done this before. It takes practice to meditate. Begin slowly, and don't be in a rush.
It has nothing to do with your Xbox controller cord.
It might have Adrenalin rush from either being nervous or over-excited about what you were doing.
Or you are not use a good breathing technique in meditation, you cause yourself some mild hyperventilation, and it scared you causing your heart to pound.
I don't usually mark the ground with an actual physical circle, myself, it's all energy work.
I don't see how a video game cord can be a bad thing to use, I don't think it matters if it is black or white or orange or whatever... Though in my tradition if we were using something for ritual purposes, it would be designated for ritual purposes-- it would be cleansed, consecrated and put away for only ritual use. I wouldn't just grab anything lying around that I used everyday because 1) it's a matter of respecting your ritual & tools and 2) everything has energy, good or bad, connected to it and without cleansing and consecration it just might not be conducive to your ritual. Not harmful, but not conducive.
That happened to me when I casted my first circle. It probably has something to do with the fact that the magic is flowing through you and causes what can only be described as a sort of tingly feeling inside. Dizziness probably has something to do with the fact that you are not yet used to the different world that you enter when you cast your circle or it could connote the fact that perhaps something about your circle was inaccurate.
My heart also pounded quite differently to its everyday steady state. It may be nerves or it could be the wonder-fullness of the practise you were undertaking.
I would not condone using the x-box 360 cable. It would be much better for you to use a natural element such as white chalk to draw your circle, (chalk brushes away very easily and is washable so it shouldn't do much damage to your flooring) and to ensure that you have each element aligned in their correct cardinal positions, (north, east, south, west - use a compass id need be) and have your alter tools with you in the cent re of the circle. This may help you to feel better when casting a circle and you may feel more connected.
This probably won't be a popular answer, but I think it's important to voice this opinion.
When you are casting a circle, you are creating a sacred space. You show that you hon our this sacred space, and the deities/spirits/energies that join you there, by making it a sacred experience. While a controller cord may be practical, I think you need to ask yourself if it is an item you really think adds to the sacredness of the experience?
If you were being trained within a coven you would have been taught in great detail why a circle is cast in a particular way, and why it is even used at all. As people today are often quite disconnected from nature and the spiritual realms, the process of casting your circle forms an important part of the shift from the mundane to the spiritual.
It is not a *must* to mark out the circle, as you should be visualizing it anyway. By drawing up it's energy you should also be able to feel this boundary, with a little practice. If you do need to mark it out, you can use some special cord that you use only for this purpose. Or use a large enough piece of material with a Prue-drawn circle on it, again used only for ritual purposes. If you can do your magical work outdoors then white flour makes an excellent, biodegradable way to mark the circumference.
As for your physical response to the magical work you were performing, if you can rule out mundane reasons first (such as hunger and tiredness) then it is likely you were suffering from the result of not keeping yourself grounded while raising energy. If it happens to you again you should stamp your feet on the ground, and hit your hands on the ground too if needed. After your ritual is complete then eat something salty and drink water - both help ground you following ritual work, which also happens to be part of the reason behind the cakes and ale at the end of a Wiccan ritual.
